This is the best thread on craftster! My girl-friend and I are in the midst of making our own knitting needles, today is decorating day! I've just got a few questions:

How would tea staining the dowels work? It would just make them darker, correct?
If I wanted to use spray paint on the needles (not close to the tip, to prevent chipping) can you see any downside?
I heard that clay toppers can be a bit heavy and cumbersome while knitting - what is your take?
And about the olive oil - did it get your knitting oily? Or did it seep into the needles and work out nicely?

OH how wonderful! I always am looking for easy, non-time consuming, new ways to spice up my hair! I don't dye it cause i like the color, but it's just err a little lifeless - this is perfect! thanks so much

Wow - i LOVE this idea, it's so beautiful. I don't know anyone who has done this idea, so props to you - it's perfect for christmas too (red and green petals) - or whatever colors are associated with your celebrated winter holiday! It could be used for anything really - valentines day, summer solstice etc.

This is such a great idea! There are tons of the small, plain brown boxes at the nearby craft store and i've only painted them or covered them with fabric. Paint and Fabric are also good ideas for this, i must say.

For a gift, you could even give a medly of the three, or two. Whatever - just thanks for giving me the idea of the stamps! : )
