I made gigantic floor pillows for my nieces one year-- used fabric they would like then on the top I did an Iron on picture from pin up toons that looked like them and added their name.  They still use them and talk about them two years later.  I think they measure 36*36.  I have also made baskets with things that I have found through out the year.. you know new candy or new gadgets.. in expensive stuff.  Last year I did movie baskets and they were well liked by the adults because of the xmas break.  I added candy, popcorn and cocoa to the basket.

Go check out my wists and you will find a lot of Xmas ideas...

I plan on making the Terrariums made out of clear xmas bulbs
The doorknob junk holder
a fabric leash for a dog from AnnaMarie Honers blog (do a search)
an art caddy for my son and daughter made out of  fabric covered tin cans screwed to a wooden carry handle (I have directions if interested)
The besotted  XOXO scarf on my wists page.. I love it and it's my first cable project-- if I tell you it's easy.. it is..

I also LOVE the idea of take the glass blocks, drilling a hole in them- shoving lights in and putting a ribbon on it.

So I thought I would throw this out there.  If you go to my  you will find a tutorial for terrariums made out of clear Christmas Bulbs.  How inexpensive is that.. not to mention clever... and I should add a WAY cool.  I plan on making some for myself and hanging them from my window.   You might also want to nose around as I tend to bookmark inexpensive craft ideas for presents.  www.wists/Janos.. I hope you find some things!

Things I plan on making

The door knob junk holder for my BF
The Bulbs
A knitted monkey for my daughter
The scarf on my wist list called besotted (easy and working on it now)
A Dallas Cowboys blanket for my brother

An art caddy for my son and daughter.  This is made out of tin cans (fabric or paper to decorate the outside) and then screwed onto a handle made out of wood - again I'll find the directions if you are interested

Superhero cape

A dog leash from Annamarie  horners ( think thats right) blog -- fabric covered.. soooo cute

fire starters made out of melted wax and pine cones (melt wax in muffin tin, insert pine cone - let it set up

That's all for now.

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas 2008, what are you making this year? on: June 06, 2008 07:28:16 PM
Since the other thread is on page 22 a few suggested we start a new thread for the 2008 year.  I know I do not care to sort through 22 pages to find ideas and suggestions for the 2008 year.  This year I am making the HUGE  S&P shakers from the Big Ass Book of Crafts for anyone adult--- I don't know about the fabric part, yet.. I may just etch-- but I LOVE the idea of it....I am saving the salsa jars for this project.  If you are interested and not sure what I am talking about PM me and I can send a picture over to you.  There are some really great ideas to launch off from in that book.. I love it!

Last year my friend made a tote bag for my son-  the crayon holders were on the outside of the bag (think needle roll holder) and the inside she loaded it with art supplies-- he loves it.  I have a couple of other ideas that I will post tonight, when the the kids aren't trying to get on the keyboard with me.

I'll also try to keep a running list of ideas etc on this thread in this first page spot if no one minds, that is...
