i typically make journals with pieces of cardboard as the covers.
this is the second one i made. (i loved the first one, i spent hours painting a tree sideways on the covers... the front cover looked like like an amorphous greens shape, and the back was the trunk, so when you open it flat you see my beautiful tree. unfortunately i left it on my balcony and it rained, so it was ruined. i got sealant soonafter that)
the nerd lettering and heart are stamps made from wine corks
coptic binding, black hemp
the inner covers have writing from the outside of the boxes, a detail i like very much. i would show more pictures but then youd be able to read some of my scribbles, and im not too comfortable with that
but that one is full, so heres my new one!
fabric covered journals always seemed like a daunting task, but it turned out not to be too hard. i didnt make the spine big enough, so it doesnt have that authentic hard covered book effect. now i know for next time!
some inside pictures:
and heres a view of it from the side:
haha definitely not perfect, my wheatpaste was a little too watery
im looking forward to making many more!
