I sometimes end up around Newark.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Offer What You Have Swap - Discussion Thread on: May 20, 2012 02:23:19 PM
Hi guys!  I've never done an ongoing swap before (just regular swaps), but I wanted to see if people were interested in some cool stuff I have lying around.  I volunteer at an arts-center-and-thrift-store, and we have probably a few hundred really cool artsy postcards, with writing on the back, so you can't really use them as postcards without a bit of alteration.  I think they were mostly really nice quality ads for art exhibitions.  We also have a whole bunch of mini prints of some cool but morbid stuff, similar to Gorey but...gorier  Roll Eyes  I don't think I have time right now to do the full 5-lot swap, but would anyone be interested in these?  I would love to do a personal swap, or else if you know of a good home for them (I'm in Chicago), that'd be great!

Me too, the thing is there are just SO many...
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Cool postcards? on: May 20, 2012 06:03:14 AM
I volunteer at a local arts-center-and-thrift-store in Hyde Park, and we have bags full of the coolest artsy postcards.  I hate to see them just sitting there, so I bought like 20, and, as they are pretty much name-your-price, I could get like 300 for a few bucks.  They are really cool-looking, but the backs have writing on them, so I couldn't really use them as postcards unless I glued a sheet of paper over the writing, plus I don't think I have enough stamps to mail 300 postcards!  Any ideas for artsy things to do with them?  One idea I had was to make some kind of mobile gallery/"shrine" style thing, like maybe line a cardboard box with them or something, but the idea isn't fully developed, so any advice or ideas would be great!  Also, if you know of any swaps that would want them, let me know!  I hate to see all those cool postcards go to waste.

Ooh I'm a bit late on this one...What about cutting them into small pieces and using them to stuff a homemade pillow?  It'd probably come out with a bit of a different texture from normal, but I imagine it would still be comfortable.  You could even use the bigger scraps to make the outside of the pillow.

Cute!
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: green zine swap on: December 28, 2011 08:01:37 PM
Cool!  I've written a sort of punk rocker/hipster's guide to Philadelphia and I could also do one for Chicago, would anyone be interested in getting that?  I dunno what other fantastic information I could impart in zine form, but I could try to think of other things if those don't tickle anyone's fancy.

Anyone interested in a zine swap, where the zines are at least partially made of reused/repurposed materials?  Stuff like ironed plastic bags, cardboard, homemade paper, found maps, etc.  I figure it would be a pretty low time commitment but it would be something fun to keep me occupied and crafting over winter break!  Also, if anyone is interested in a personal zine swap but there are not enough people for a full official swap, that'd be great, too!  Cheesy

Do it!  Grin Yeah I wear pretty much exclusively sneakers, and those aren't so good for decoupage...alas!
