1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Need Help Making A Pattern for Panta/Calorimetry on: October 18, 2007 11:24:04 PM
Hi, everyone!

So I've been going nuts for the past 4 months trying to figure out how to make this really pretty panta (or calorimetry).  I don't know anyone else who knits or crochets, and I'm only a newbie.  I thought I'd give it a shot and see if any of you experienced knitters/crocheters can help and figure out the pattern.  The folks at the knitting forum say it's crochet...but it looks too perfect to be crochet (look at the "V" shape near the ears in the 2nd photo).  Plus how'd they get the perfect "stockinette" stictch?Huh

Here are the big photos, but because the yarn is dark, you can see the details:

I'm about to go nuts if I can't make one.  I've spent so much money buying yarns, needles, hooks, etc.  It's starting to get really chilly here and I would love to be able to make one.  Maybe if someone can figure out the pattern, we can revive the panta/calorimetry craze again...but this time:  "Crochet Style"!

Thanks!

Just wondering if i'm the only inexperienced knitter here.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Calorimetry Variation (Vertical)? on: March 08, 2007 04:29:48 PM
Hi, everyone---

I'm new to knitting and wanted to know if anyone had come up with a variation of this pattern that has the stitches going vertical?  Meaning like this:

          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
   >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
          >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Instead of how this pattern has the stitches going, like this:

       VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
    VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
  VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
  VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
     VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
        VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

I saw these for sale online and would love to make one:

If someone could help me figure out how to do this, I would be incredibly grateful!

Thanks so much!!!
