41  Re: walking sticks in Completed Projects by pinokeeo on: May 16, 2013 04:11:05 PM
This is the only stick I have left with any carving on it.  This is just a double spiral, but the whole thing was done with just a knife.

I have also done a herringbone pattern, a single spiral and a hollow spiral, but I don't have any of those.  I should have taken pictures. Sad

Here are the last two projects for this week.

I think these both qualify as CHALLENGE ENTRIES.

The first is walking sticks.  There are a total of eight.  The four on the left are curly willow, and the four on the right are white willow.  The one on the far right is carved at the top.  I harvested these sticks from my own property.

And here's the photo.

The second one is a faire sign that I was asked to make.  Nothing special, but it took me forever to get it right.  It's lightweight, has no hinge, and has a place to hang a weight, so it won't blow away.

And here's the photo.

I tried to make it look old.  Not real good, but it does look a bit weathered.

I made a set of temple blocks.  All wood.  They are percussion blocks.  I made them to go with my ukulele.

Challenge Entry!

Posted on the Toys Board:
Chinese Checkers

Great little mug rugs, Always.  I love your Japanese theme.

Here is my next finished project, Chinese Checkers, with a storage drawer for the marbles.  I wouldn't want to lose my marbles. Wink

CHALLENGE ENTRY

Posted here.  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=423492.new#new

I finished making my temple blocks.  These are percussion toys.  They are Asian in nature, having been found in Buddhist Temples.  I just like the idea of making blocks that sing.  Each one has its own tone.

I still have to build a stand for them, and I think I'm going to burn some kanji symbols on them.

So here are the chairs that I have acquired.  Now all I have to do is make them usable.

Just a little inspiration for you all.  This wasn't a total redo, but we acquired an old (1963) travel trailer that was in horrible condition.  This was part of our redo for the upholstery.  The first photo shows it just like we received it, and the second photo shows the cushions redone in a new upholstery fabric, and all the woodwork reworked.
