221  Re: Christmas Ornament Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by pinokeeo on: December 01, 2008 08:21:02 AM
I received from christinacoghill on Friday.  I wasn't able to post pictures then, but here they are.

She sent me a wonderful little fairy house and a fun foam change purse.

Another side of the fairy house.

Thanks Christina.  They're great.  I can't wait to put my new fairy house on my tree.  I just hope my cats don't eat it.

222  Re: Sweat Shoppe Holiday/Winter Swap (signups til 11/24) (send by 12/15) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by pinokeeo on: November 22, 2008 04:53:13 PM
Ok, here are my offerings.

First, a set of alphabet blocks, suitable for children from six months to six years.  They have all 26 letter, plus ten repeats.

Next, a sword and shield for the little knight.  Has leather straps on the back for handles, sewn on with sinew.

The third item is a set of two small skill games, a jacob's ladder and a cup and ball.  The jacob's ladder comes with your choice of two colors of ribbon.

The fourth item is a set of two brain teaser type puzzles.  They come with the solutions.

My fifth item is a set of 25 pickup sticks, with a drawstring bag for storage.

My partner for this swap seems to be MIA, so I'm posting pics of what I sent her.

First, a bouquet of roses made from cedar cones.

I also made her a forest of trees.

A baby rattle for her not-yet-born baby, made from birch, her favorite wood.

A candle holder, complete with two tapir candles.

And I also included a couple of really cool tree pictures that I found.

I hope she liked what I sent.

The whole lot.

How she interpreted the themes

1) chunky--sparkly brads
2) over 20--box of all sorts of doodads
3) typography--letter stickers
4) botanical--leaf stickers
5) postal--two vintage postcards
6) photograph--pictures taken by her letterboxing friends
7) label--bookplate stamp
Cool whimsical--great looking scrapbooking papers
9) found--grungeboard
10) local--photos of areas where she lives
11) sharp--microscope slides (these are going to be fun to play with)
12) vintage--postcards
13) transportation--parrot feathers (I love this one)
14) altered--altered grungeboards
15) senders choice--a handmade journal in some lovely colors.

Some of my favorites.

pretty papers

a handmade journal.  I tried to get a decent picture of the inside cover, but was unable to do so.

parrot feathers.  These are awesome.

doodads of all kinds, handstamped pirate coins, a homemade swallow stamp (this is pretty neat, since the swallows summer here), stickers, brads, buttons

a bookplate stamp (sorry for the lousy picture)

and, really cool vintage postcards.

Thanks Mary, for a beautiful swap package.

I also received from elvissatx yesterday.

All the loot as it was in the package.

And everything revealed.

The ornament book.

And Charlie Brown's "pathetic" little tree, complete with one ornament and Linus' blanket.

I haven't tried the taffy yet.  I'm trying to hold onto it for a little while.

I love everything.  The ornament book is so great.  I'm looking forward to filling it up with some Christmas memories.

226  Re: IYP 10: The Craftster Cotillion Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by pinokeeo on: November 06, 2008 11:09:40 AM
Ok, I received from RondaS on Monday, but because of the death of a dear friend, and lots of rain in our area, I've not been able to post pictures.  These will not do justice to what I have received, but I wanted to get the pics up.  Ronda, if you have better pictures, please post them.

First, the whole lot that was in the box.

Next, one of Ronda's lovely magnetic hematite bracelets.  I adore this bracelet and I don't wear jewelry, but I bet I'll wear this one.

Then she sent me rocks, some tumbled and some not.  There is some picture jasper, unakite (which I've never seen before), and several pieces of rainbow obsidian.

This piece of obsidian is almost translucent.  It's beautiful.

This orb is wonderful.  It has its own stand.

Untumbled stones for my rock tumbler.  This will be fun to see what I get.

Next, a very small cuppa for my miniature house.  I tried to hold it up for size reference.

And finally, what I asked for, embroidered pillow cases.  Ronda does all this beautiful handstitching, which I would not have the patience for.  My pegasus and all of the floral work that goes with it.  I have a right and left piece along with a dresser scarf that will look great on my antique mahogany dresser. I could not capture the pegasus well, but trust me, it's gorgeous.

Thank you so much, Ronda.  It is much appreciated.

And this gallery just gets better.  I love everything, just haven't been up for getting on craftster lately.

229  Re: Jar of Whimsies Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by pinokeeo on: October 21, 2008 08:40:50 AM
Ok, I received my whimsy package from ThatsWhatSheSaid.  I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post pics.  Life sometimes gets in the way.

I will also apologize in advance for the number of pictures.  There were some exceptional items in here.

We had decided not to do the traditional "jar".  My partner decided to just use a box, with a box inside of it.

First of all, when I opened the box, this is what I saw.

Everything spread out to see.

Some of my favorites.

A handmade felted wool ornament.

The Lady and the Tramp

My whimsy "jar", a very old wood cigar box.  I love reconning cigar boxes.

Two styrofoam shapes.  I'm not sure what I'll do with these, but I'm intrigued by them.

Some gimp, for my next Renaissance costume.

And, I saved the best for last.  A picture block.  The blocks are all attached together, so that when you flip them a new picture is revealed.

The cube on one side.

And another side.

Opened once.

And opened again.

Thank you Dana, for an awesome and thoughtful whimsy package.  You were really right on with this one.

230  Re: Choc Unan Rd 3 Gallery of Chocolatey Goodness! in The Swap Gallery by pinokeeo on: October 14, 2008 03:11:22 PM
Thanks for all the comments.

Hope I don't spoil it for you, SunflowerSmiles, but here's what the cake looked like when I baked it in the microwave.

I thought it was going to make a holy mess, but it didn't even spill.
