1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / "Let me think" mixed media steampunk sign on: April 04, 2014 06:43:09 AM
I created this piece for Graphic 45 with their Typography line (which I LOVE).

The base is a Walnut Hollow Innkeeper Signboard to which chipboard gears, and a slew of bits and bobs have been applied.

The little burnt out lightbulbs were found at the bottom of a box of junk we bought at auction last year. SEE there is a reason to keep absolutely everything!

The gears are chipboard pieces from Gina's Designs which have been painted with copper paint and then distressed.

The "Let me think" is from a vintage kid's book that I tear into on a semi regular basis.

A complete supply list is available on my blog  Kiss
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Cutesy birdhouse to shabby chic abode redo on: March 27, 2014 01:09:14 PM
My neighbour gave me this cute house thing-a-ma-bob to play with a while ago and it has been sitting for ages waiting for some attention. Petaloo asked me if I would like to guest design for them and I said "yes!" (duh!) and they send along some Marion Smith papers that just begged to be used on this redo project...

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Thrifted Frames for Art Abandonment on: March 21, 2014 12:32:50 PM

I belong to THIS art abandonment group on facebook. If you're unfamiliar the gist is: make something, leave it in a public place for a stranger to find. It's a lot of fun and a very freeing thing to do. This month the challenge was to thrift a piece of art from a second hand shop and repurpose that to make something to abandon. I bought this bunch of old frames...

and filled them with little collages...

I'll be leaving them around town this weekend! I hope nice people find them Smiley
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / TARDIS!!! Wardrobe redo for the kiddo's room. on: March 16, 2014 04:13:05 PM
I'm not even entirely done this project but I can't stand to wait to share it.

I bought this beat up old wardrobe for $10 in an online auction. It was so bad that when we showed up to pay for it they asked if we were sure we wanted it  Cheesy

The more I looked at it, the more I wanted to turn it in to some sort of portal to Narnia... then I was reminded that maybe my kid might need it more for hanging clothes in and stuff.  Roll Eyes

So, my boy picked a lovely shade of blue and I started painting...

And I quickly realized that this was no portal to Narnia... THIS WAS A TARDIS!

Like I said, it's not done. The door inserts will be replaced over the next week or two, hardware replaced and a storage box and light added to the top... but I'm THRILLED with how it's turning out and the kiddo loves it too Smiley
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sneaky Secret Stash Slytherin Book on: March 03, 2014 10:40:20 PM
So Graphic 45 sends me stuff and I in turn make stuff from it. One of their new paper collections is sports themed. I'm not exactly the sporty type BUT then I  noticed one of their papers had a Slytherin sort of colour scheme ... huzzah for Quidditch!

Anyway, I made a sort of secret stash box in Slytherin colours using the Good Ol' Sport and Steampunk Spells paper lines. I'm sure that all Slytherin's have somewhere to hid their contraband.

Inside lots of goodies

There's a complete supply list on this blog post if you're interested
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / In Praise of Odd Birds altered art book *with BONUS poem!* on: February 26, 2014 04:26:10 PM
I created this for Alpha Stamps (go there and buy yummy products). This month they have a theme "Odd Birds" and since I have soft spot for quirky ducks in my little heart I wrote a poem and made this altered art book to go along with the theme...

And the poem....

Cherish the odd birds
With their hedgehog plumes
Who sing wild songs
In quiet little rooms

Delight in the sparrows
Overflowing with strange dreams
So filled to the brim
They are splitting at the seams

Marvel at the darlings
Who smile with crooked teeth
Whose wings are not straight
But who have the brightest cheeks

Cherish the odd birds
The irregular and quirky
For they are beams of hopeful light
When all the world seems murky

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Essential Tools for Tiny Vampire Hunters on: February 11, 2014 12:01:03 PM
I am a big fan of horror. Vampires, zombies, blood, gore, Bruce Campbell... it's all good. So when the opportunity arose to make something vampirey (proper vamipire... none of this sparkle nonsense) I jumped all over it. May I present a very little vampire hunting kit...

There's stakes and mallet/hammer, holy water, a bible, silver cross and chain and mirror. When I showed this to my kid this morning he said "That's so cool!.... but where's the garlic?" and so I HAD to add a tiny head of garlic too.

It was great fun to make Smiley

ETA: I do think dear Edward is quite handsome and don't REALLY have anything against sparkly vampires but the bloodsucking ones are far more fun.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / The Buttoneers on: February 03, 2014 07:54:25 AM
I was working on these a few months ago but they weren't cooperating with the idea in my head. I had made Liquorice Allsorts to embellish them but they just didn't work so I put them down and forgot about them for a while. Finally, they shouted at me to put some buttons and other bits on instead. I did as they said, and now they are "Buttoneers"

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / It's rather a mystery - ATB on: January 28, 2014 10:15:34 AM
I've made a slew of these blocks. This is the last one for a while because the laundry is piling up! (Who am I kidding? It's ALWAYS piled up!)

I like the placement of the sentiment (it's from an old book) because the 'a' makes him look a little cyclopsy Smiley

The rusty wire is actually new, as are the little crown at the top and the photo corners. The rusty hand forged square head nails on the sides are old things.

The photos are copies of originals in my collection of forgotten people.
