1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / From the first Mini Art Quilt Swap in 2009!!! on: August 17, 2015 12:13:03 PM
Totally forgot about entering this challenge!  Glad I checked back today!

Here is the quilt I made RyverChyld for the first Mini Art Quilt Swap in 2009 (link:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=302820.0).  It was the first art quilt I'd ever made and was a nervous wreck to send it out.

I strip-pieced the fabrics for the flowers and then appliqud them on the background that was also strip-pieced from different white fabrics.  I sewed clear glass beads around the perimeter and then added rick-rack when I sewed on the binding.

I thought the back was pretty cute, too!

Thanks for looking!

I can't tell you how proud I am that he finished this project!  His patience with MY need for craftiness isn't very well developed!  I guess competition is a strong motivator!  Good job, B!  Your next little craft project will be to build a little shadow box to put this in because we are totally hanging this in our entryway or living room!

Also, The butterfly file I used for my project is from Miss Kate Cuttables.  It was a freebie file she offered last year.  I removed the detail cuts and only used the outline.

Neat idea!  What did you use for the base?  It looks sponge-y.

I looked up plastic bag crafts after I read your post.  Wow! There's some awesome ideas "out there."

Your turtle is adorable, but I'd steal your little dog in a heartbeat!!!  What a cutie!

This is great!  You did a good job.  I made a quilt block with a millions seams once and it weighed a TON!  Is your skirt heavy because of all the seaming?

I used to fold paper cranes as I watched TV and had shoe boxes full of them.  I LOVE that you added the words.  What a neat idea!
