51  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Marble Pendants - Pics are gone, sorry! on: August 18, 2008 08:14:46 AM
I had a hard time deciding whether to put this in reconstructed or completed but they are marbles made into pendants so I hope this is the right place Smiley

I have all these flat backed marbles that I have many plans for, this being just one of them.
It was kind of an experiment Smiley But I think for a first attempt it worked pretty well.

Basically I took paper hole punches and colored them with colored pencils and then glued them on the back of the marble and attached a bail with two part epoxy and voila! A super cute pendant Smiley

Here are four I've made so far:

I have many more plans with this Smiley I can't wait to share with all of you!

52  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Broken Art-What should I do??? on: August 07, 2008 07:56:16 PM
Okay here is the back story first. About 4 years ago (yes it's been THAT long) I was working on this piece that I was planning on putting in my portfolio (to try to get into some studios, that venture has been put on hold).

I worked PAINSTAKINGLY on this piece for 3 months. That was the LONGEST I've ever worked on a piece (I can usually crank one out in a weekend or a week, depending on the time I have available). Well back then I had this table that was apart of a piece of old furniture that I would use to sit on my lap while I sat on my bed to draw.

Well while working on this piece one night I had to pee so I put the table on the floor and proceeding to get off the bed. Well in the process I tripped over the table causing it to flip over. Well that little accident ended up splitting my piece in half!!! I said MANY choice curse words and started to cry just staring at my work. Well then I couldn't decide what to do with it so it's been sitting in my closet for 4 years. I just came across it again while unpacking and decided I should do something with it already. Well I have been thinking about doing a few ATC's or ACEO's and I thought maybe I could cut it up into those. Do you guys think that would be a good idea?

I have thought and been told other ideas such as finishing it and framing as two to four separate pieces. Which still might work but there is more than one crack. In the pictures (which I took right after it happened with my crappy camera I had back then) you can only really see the one main crack. But after it happened and I tried to pick it up it cracked in other places too. I use colored pencils and I can't really fill in the crack with colored pencils.

I will NEVER buy the board I used for this piece ever again either!

Okay well on to the pics.....

So what do you guys think should I make ATC's or ACEO's?
Should I attempt finishing it and framing it separately?
Trash it LOL

Oh and one thing I thought of framing it separately brings another problem--since it's not a clean break I would either have to make it clean and risk losing some of the picture or leave it unclean....

Thanks ahead of time for reading all that Smiley
And for any suggestions!
53  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My Craft Space in my Bedroom - Pics are gone, sorry! on: July 30, 2008 04:48:15 PM
Being inspired by all the craft rooms on here I decided to post mine Smiley
Now it's not a room all by itself it's also my bedroom
and I live in an apartment so I can't paint or anything but I still LOVE IT!
We just moved into a new apartment and this set up is soo much better than how I had it at my old place.
I just hope to inspire those of you that have shared spaces like mine (bedroom and craft room) to use what you have Smiley  We just moved in this weekend so it's not completely done, I still need to make some crafty decor and hang stuff up on the walls. The whole bedroom will be turqouise and brown and then my craft space will have pops of green. Someday when I have my own craft room it will be turquoise, brown, and lime green.

K here are a couple pics of it in its entirety:

Here is a close up of my pegboard~Its soooo cool I got the whole thing even the hooks and bins at Walmart for $25! Its called a pegboard starter kit and it comes with 4 boards you hook together, all the screws to hang it with and a set of hooks and bins etc....
The two brown squares under it are cork board I covered with fake brown leather like material.
And I hung a flourescent light about it, not the prettiest thing but it works and it was free!
I also hung folders on the pegboard to hold thing like scrap papers, patterns, projects ideas, etc...

This is on the right side of my table, on th top shelf you can see my Pringles can magazine organizer Smiley On the second shelf is the awesome small drawer organizer I got at Walmart for $10, it hold all my small items like jewlery findings, buttons, etc....

I love tiny things here is a close up on my small collection of tiny office supplies Smiley

Here is what is on the left side of my craft table: I love girly movies and I watch them the most while crafting so I decided to put them in my craft area. This side holds my tv and dvd player also. The boxes on the top shelf have magazine clippings etc... Some are empty but will probably be filled soon LOL!

There are also some of my favorite items on the left side like vases and my little pony plastic figurine, and this cute votive holder I found at goodwill in the shape of a tulip.

These final photos are to show how the craft area is incorporated into the bedroom, I still need to hang photos and such

I hope you all like it!
It fits really well I think Smiley There are a total of 6 plastic drawer organizers that hold everything like fabric scraps, tape, glue, paint, tools, thread, pencils, markers, pens, etc.....

I also got a rug for free to lay down so I wouldnt ruin the carpet if I spilled paint or glue which is awesome, I ruined the carpet at the last place because of spilling things HA ha.
I even have a bit of room to grow.
There are a few exta things in other places. My photos and scrapbook stuff are under the bed in under the bed storage boxes. And I have most of my fabric and container stash in the outside storage unit on our balcony. Thanks For Looking and Reading if you did so Cheesy

OH and I already told you about the pegboard kit but I wanted to say I got the shelfs at Walmart too! You get the racks and two shelfs and everything to hang them up in one kit for $10 so I bought two.

So basically I already had all the cubbies and table and extra stuff so the whole thing on the wall (pegboard kit and shelfs) cost me $50!

OH and one last thing the blue binders you see on the shelf is my awesome way of organizing things I love. There are 7 total and each for a different purpose:
1)decor ideas and furniture etc.. that I love
2)useful tips on organizing cleaning etc..
3)clothes I love for inspiration etc..
4)useful sewing articles
5)tutorials
6)misc craft inspiration
7)mag articles i love

I plan on covering them with either paper or fabric sometime, just another project on my long crafting to do list! I dont like the cheap blue plastic look LOL!

Oh and (Okay I swear this is the last thing ROFL) I LOVE labeling things so it's not done yet and not pictured but all the drawers including the small drawer organizer on the shelf will be labeled~I'm working on that now as we speak Smiley
I LOVE organization! I have to try to keep this craft area clean cuz It's also my office and my hubby uses this room to and hates clutter as much as I do! Believe me or not but I'm a messy crafter! Especially once I get into a project~it's too hard when you are in the middle of something to put everything away and then get it all out again Tongue

54  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My Colored Pencil Art-Britney Murphy, Jimi Hendrix and a Portrait on: June 05, 2008 07:47:12 PM
It's actually been a long while since I've done any drawing so I thought maybe if I shared some with you all I might get motivated to do some. I've been crafting so much I haven't had much time for drawing. Time is limited It's a constant battle Smiley But these are some pieces I've done in the past. The Britney Murphy piece is one of my personal favs, some of the shadows are a bit wonky but still one of my favs. Then the second one is a piece I did of my Sister in Law Jessica, I did it as a bridal shower gift and she loved it. I was up until like 3 AM the morning of her shower finishing it LOL, I matted and framed it myself also. The third is a piece I was commisioned to do for a friend of Jimi Hendrix. Well Enjoy Smiley The most recent is the one of Jessica and that was done last August. It's been that long since I've I done any real drawing.
These are all done in colored pencil and for larger pics and more of my art you can see it on www.artwanted.com/lindsycarranza

55  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pringles Can Organizer! - Pics are gone, sorry! on: April 21, 2008 07:58:04 PM
Wasn't really sure where to post this so I hope this is a good place Smiley

I am so excited about this! Now this was kinda of a practice round to see if it could actually work. I plan on getting some sweet scrapbook paper and using modpodge to attach it to the cans. I also want to make the board a bit prettier looking, cover the inside bottoms of the cans so you can't see the wire and frame it so it looks neat on the wall but I was so excited I just HAD to post!!!

I also plan on making some free standing ones and smaller and larger ones, I just need some more Pringles cans Smiley

So here it is my Pringles can organizer (now I can't take full credit my friend Danyell gave me the beginnings for the idea) but this one is made so you can hang it on a wall. You could use it for many things the pics show using it for colored pencils or as a magazine rack (my fav)

Without further adieu....

Here are some updated pics! This is the final product, I used mod podge and covered the cans with SEVERAL layers of tissue paper, I lined the end of the can with ribbon and attached them together with hot glue. This one I decided to be designed to set on a table or counter.

56  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Still a newbie, I need help on: March 30, 2008 07:07:42 PM
Ok, I've browsed ton's of topics, help topics, FAQ, etc... and I still haven't figured it out.
I browse topics A LOT and sometimes I forget what ones I've already read especially since the topics change order constantly. So how you know if you've read a topic already??

I'm so confused?

Knowing what topics I've already read would be VERY helpful so I wouldn't keep going to the same topics...also kind of off the subject but what's a wist?
57  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Going Away Gift - Pics are gone, sorry! on: March 27, 2008 07:50:43 PM
Name hanging? I really dunno what to call it but I LOVE it!!!
One of my clients (I clean houses) is moving to Denver, which makes me sad I really love them so I decided to make them a little something. I really love my creation it kinda just came to me!
I also made them a folder titled Tips from your favorite cleaning lady Smiley
Just something fun because they need organization tips, they had me do a lot of organizing for them and loved what I did so I though I'd give them some tips to help out Smiley

Anyways I'm rambling...
It's a scrabble tile rack that is mod podged with scrapbook papers. I drilled holes and used screw eyes and split rings to attach everything. The letters are scrabble tiles that I painted (they are meant to have a bit of an unfinished look but you can't really tell in the pics). There are heavy duty magnets attached to the back and rings attached to the top. So you can either hang it, set in on a ledge, or put it on the fridge. On the rack is their last name and hanging from that are the names of the family hanging vertically. (Josh, Mary, Calli, Brett, Nina, Elvis and Molly - the last two are their pets).

K finally the pics!

I totally love how my idea in my head came to life and how it turned out!!!
I can't wait to give it to them I hope they love it too!

58  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Who says pumps have to be boring?! Pics are gone, sorry! on: March 27, 2008 07:45:31 PM
Okay ladies, I had to redo my painted heels...
They had cracked pretty bad but I discovered a wonderful tip. Paint the shoes with fabric GLUE
first and that helps prevent cracking, it really works!!!
I ended up making what were the brown button ones into something else....
So here are the redo's and one new pair Smiley

The brown flats are a bonus...I had originally painted them the turquoise color but decided I wanted turquoise pumps instead... so I painted these a simple brown so I can wear them more often.

Sorry for all the pics but I'm really excited about my shoes!!!!

The original shoes are under my post New Painted Heels (Very Pic Heavy)
Here is a link to that topic...http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=229969.0

The pink ones were hard to recreate, this version is darker than the first pair but it's close.

Well this is my first post Smiley
I've been apart of this group for almost a year now, just browsing and commenting.
All you crafty people give me lots of inspiration!

Well I got a bag of size 9 women's shoes for free from Craig's List and I was STOKED! Finding size 9's in thrift stores let alone free is HARD! And I have become addicted to painting shoes, it's so much fun Smiley

I was only able to use and fit into three pairs but Hey they were free. All three pairs were the same style just different colors (Maroon, Hunter Green, and Cream) I only took before shots of the first pair I did but they were all basically the same...

Before:

The maroon stuff was this fake plasticy pleathery stuff and it was in pretty bad shape, torn up etc... I had to painstakingly peel that off..it took quite awhile once I got that off I had to remove all this sticky stuff. This is was they look like after peeling all that stuff off.

These are the after shots I really like how they came out...these were the shoes that were orig. maroon.

These are the second pair I have finished. I still have a pair still left to do but I was so exicted I wanted to post these...plus if I would have waited there would have been WAY too many pics
not that this post isn't loaded with them LOL
I am really happy with how there turned out also these were orig. hunter green (YUCK!)

Thanks for looking! I called the brown ones my button shoes and the pink ones my Barbie shoes Smiley
