1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Re: Walthamstow market Queries... on: August 07, 2007 05:31:16 AM
This is much too late for your visit but for the benefit of others:

To get to the market go to Walthamstow Central station.  Head towards the grass area and walk down the path that runs by the side of the bus station.  You will be at the top of the market.

There are a couple of smaller fabric stalls selling various fabrics which change frequently and also shops on the high street itself.  There is also a larger stall selling basic polycottons and the like very cheaply.  There is a stall next to the Chinese Supermarket on the left hand side of the road (like a hole in the wall) which sells cheap haberdashery.

In terms of whether anything is any good:  I'm not so sure, on my first visit I was very excited but I have had a hard time finding good stuff since.  There is a lot of garish crepe and it's hard to find any nice cotton prints.  The best advice is to lower yor expectations and go with an open mind.  And get a mezze plate from Cafe Rio, it's the best!

That's lovely, very intricate. Did it take you long?

That's very cool, what a great way to use up scraps!

Very nice, a simple idea done well, love the colour combination. You've inspired me to do something similar with all my felt scraps.
