5  Re: String art earrings? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by lizard4me2 on: May 04, 2009 04:30:57 PM
on THESE i did them just like the lady in the video--made a frame, made a coiled tube, put the tube on the frame, then strung the thread

BUT!!!
on this pendant--i did things differently:
first i made a completely finished frame from 20g wire--hammered it a little--
THEN i used 24g wire and wrapped it around the frame--starting at the top right--and added little beads--wrapped--added a bead---etc all the way around
THEN i used the beads to hold the thread (they work like the coiled tube thing did)

on BOTH of them--i used the BIGGER wire for the frame--and the SMALLER wire for the coil/wrapping

hope this makes sense!

i love working with metal!!
here's what i did for the 'guys' in the family--LOL!!  it really sounds so beautiful, you never imagine it's made with scrap washers, nuts, drill bits etc---hung on purchased (like 90 cents at lowe's) 'spikes'

i did this pendant a little different--

used 20g gold art wire for frame
24g gold art wire to wire wrap these tiny glass beads to frame-
turquoise embroidery floss to 'string'--with little accent beads in center--
took a little while, but i like it better than the round earrings i did before--still need some practice!

10  frostie bottlecap jewelry in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lizard4me2 on: September 14, 2008 01:19:12 PM
a friend who had been happily married forever, just recently lost her beloved partner--i took one of the last photos of them together, mounted it in a bottle cap, covered it with clear plastic (circle from bottled water) and designed them to be reversible--i used the 'frostie blue cream' because my grandson occasionally drinks these, i thought they were cool, so had kept a few of them--and so i could call them 'frostie, cause willi's so cool'  when i send them to willi--hope she likes them!

theresa
beaded with glass beads various colors of blue and silver--long so can be slipped over head

close up of pendant with heart shapes on necklace

necklace with earrings, showing they can be reversible (earwires not shown)

comments, suggestions welcome!
