YAY Avari!!  My second attempt at part of my large turned out how I had imagined it also.  Gotta learn through mistakes, right?


On another note, how ridiculously crazy is it to drive 2 hours in the morning just to find a movie theater thats still showing Twilight?!  My best friend hasn't seen it yet and we're spending the morning together (we're both childless at the same time for the first time in a lot of months).  She's never heard of Twilight and will likely think I'm absolutely nuts that I'm driving her 2 hours away and then 2 hours back just to watch some movie lol.  She'd likely be content just driving the 10 minutes it takes to go see Underworld or something...

Seriously! When all is said and done and my partner has recieved, I'm going to post pics of the large that went wrong, just so everyone can enjoy the ENORMITY of my mistake! LOL.

On a Twilight-semi-obsessed note, I was in the store today and just happened to look down at the book table...and guess what I saw!

I recieved from Scotskipper402 but I forgot to post pictures! I was too excited!

Here's most of what I got minus a red Riding Hood shawl that matched the hat. My sister stole it! I did fight for it, Scotskipper, I really did Her powers of persuasion plus her pout are too powerful to resist.


Here's a close up of my hat and fantastic Serenity-like earrings. It hasn't gotten quite cold enough to wear the hat, but it's coming.



I've already put my needlework book to good use--I'm embroidering one of the designs on a pillow as a Christmas present. Thank you so much, Scotskipper402, you really spoiled me!

There is nothing better than waking up and finding a swap package on your doorstep. That Christmas feeling keeps rushing back in a hurry, especially when said package is covered with Harry Potter references:

I got my package yesterday too! I started jumping up and down in the street in excitement because that was totally the last thing I expected to see in my mailbox! My brother felt compelled to usher me inside. It was not pretty.

But my goodies are! I, uh, can't show you what they looked like all wrapped up, because I got a teeny bit excited and totally didn't take into account that my camera was at work with Dad. *ahem*

Hi, all! So I'm not all that new to the crochet scene, but this is my first crochet post on Craftster. Let me know what you think!

I have about 8 doilies that my grandmother crocheted over fifty years ago. I've always appreciated them but only now understand just how wonderfully crafted they are. My mom used to crochet, and still had some doily books around. I picked one up and decided to give the "Sunny Morning" pattern a shot.

Here are my results!

Now, the pattern calls for regular crochet thread and steel hooks. I wasn't that confident. I used Peaches and Cream Ecru-colored cotton yarn (2 and a smidgen of a 3rd ball). So instead of 10 1/2 inches, the doily actually turned into a table topper as it's about twice the estimated size.

I'm very proud of how it turned out, and the Ecru color reminds me of Oma's doilies, which have yellowed with age.

This might actually be better suited to the "Reuse/Recycle" forum, but I found a few things that seemed to fit in this one, so....

I went to a friend's graduation and was helping her move her stuff out along with her mom (who's very Green). We glanced over in the dumpster and there was this heavy bench with the ugliest fabric you've ever seen on it, and the seam had burst. There was nothing else wrong with it as far as I could see. To make a long story short, I suddenly had this thing in my car courtesy of Friend's Mom. I covered the fabric with something we had around the house, repainted it, and now it's a great new addition to my parent's room!
