41  Cloudy Skies in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by talyra on: May 03, 2007 12:53:52 PM

Blue lace agate and silver plated wire. It had been a while since I had done any wire wrapping. I'm pretty pleased with this; blue lace agate is a gorgeous stone but I rarely see it set in a way that I like. I was trying to keep the setting delicate and light, even though the beads are pretty chunky (I haven't measured properly but they are probably 10mm or bigger).

Concrit welcome!

42  Re: 100 Themes Gallery in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by talyra on: April 26, 2007 01:00:16 PM
Is it way too attention-seeking to post another one now? Yes? OK then.

This is horrifically fangirlish so excuse me, but I was SO pleased with how it came out I had to share:

#60 - "Rejection". Wordage gobbled by flash of doom says "some men are intimidated by beauty, they fear rejection".

Cookies for anyone who recognises the fandom. Extra cookies if you managed it from my drawing, not the quote, lawlz Tongue

*re-edit* ignore me, I'm going mental. Or my 'puter is. I dunno.

*grabs back end of bandwagon and hops aboard*

Well, here are my first two ATCs ever!

This is #1, "Introduction". I thought it would be fun to create characters whose story I could tell on the ATCs (and maybe get a few of the imaginary people running round my head out into the real world...) So meet Nat, Eriane and Kess: best friends from another world.
They won't be on EVERY card I make. For the theme challenge it will just be the ones where their story(ies) fit.
Drawing pen and coloured pencil. I now have finer pens, so expect less spludged detail work in future.

This is #34, 'Stars'. I was listening to Muse in the bus station cafe and drew this, and coloured it when I got home. I got a nasty feeling of deja vu once I finished it, though. I don't consciously copy, but if anyone looks at this and says "I've seen that before..." please show me as it really bugs me when this happens.
More pencil, and gel pen this time (for the wormhole, the stars and the highlights on the ship).

Yes, I am a nerd. Not everything I do will be nerd themed. Just most of it  Grin

Erm... what else? Shading is not quite as crap as it looks, the flash ate my colours and there's only so much a photoediting package can do. Bearing this in mind, concrit is much-loved and may receive cookies.

*edited to sort out enormous pictures*

44  Flowers and hummingbirds! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by talyra on: April 15, 2007 01:28:55 PM

Flower from an ugly bracelet involving lots of pink plastic beads. Vintage green millefiori beads, artisan made red lampwork, hummingbirds from a little shop in York, old beadcaps from summat or other, you get the idea. Pre-made chain mostly hung from the openwork flower, though bits are hung from the connector on the back of the flower. Not the most complicated of pieces to put together but pretty effective.

Or so I thought. Took a LONG time working out how to arrange it so that the hummingbirds weren't headbutting or being attacked by the other beads.

What else? First 'proper' post, don't be gentle, I like concrit!
