21  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: ink jet transparencies not dark enough on: May 29, 2007 09:16:47 PM
ah thanks guys. I cant believe i didn't think of just stacking 3 on top of each other. I've been printing the same transparency over and over again, so that the ink gets more and more opaque and though it works, it still isnt as dark as my liking.

I'm having trouble getting really black images with ink jet printers and transparencies.
I've heard that copy machines and laser printers etc are much better. Does anyone know if ink jet transparencies work well in laser printers/copy machines? I don't wanna brake the one i have at work haha.

also,
I've heard about printing out a image on regular paper and then dipping it in oil to make the white parts transparent and then using that as a transparency. Does this work well?

thanks

27  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Straw Stars! on: April 24, 2007 09:50:13 PM
It's possible to do them with normal straws too. Whenever i'm eating out and theres a straw in my drink i usually end up making it into a star when im done eating.

I used to string them through the center and make bracelets or string them through safety pins and make a decorative pin out of them. I found that when you do use normal straws the holes in center are bigger because the straw isnt that long and theres more space between the folds.

The striped ones from mcdonalds look really cool, if you flatten it so that the red and yellow stripe are on the sides and the white part is in the middle, before you start folding.

What are some good consignment shops and/or markets like the "young designers market" in soho, (which features tons of people and their handmade wares for sale) to sell things?

thanks! Smiley

A girlfriend of mine just celebrated her 21st, and she rented a "Bang Bus." Basically, it's a bus that you can rent out that will drive you and however many of your friends to different places. She had a keg on the bus (don't know if that's legal), and everyone had a smashing time!! It looked like a lot of fun from the pictures. The bus was PACKED with all her friends.

OMG I hope they have a company that does that in my area!
