I was thinking a large & medium? signups this week and go until early october.. then sendouts early november?

this is my second quilt, for my mother for christmas. still needs backing. I'm sewing a piece of fleece on the back and tying all the intersections. this is # 2/5 for xmas!

the is the top part, i'm going to back it with fleece, then do the tie thing.. haha this is my first quilt and im really proud of it so far. it's for my older brother for xmas, my younger brothers are getting baseball ones.

I really need shorts, but in every store i've been to its all capris/jeans.
so, i've decided to make my own. I've made boxers by cutting the 2 rectangles, sewing the crotch in a U shape, then doing the side seams & waist casing- i'm thinking this would totally work for shorts if i made them long enough? But my questions are:
1) would that actually work
2) what kind of fabric would i use?
I want them to be everyday, indoor, outdoor walking shorts.

If i start the signups this week, and let em go till sometime in the first week of september, and crafting 5 points.

So, i was thinking it'd be neat to swap some quilt squares.
I was thinking of having groups of like 5 people, and each person make a quilt square to send to each person in their group.. It would be the same size square, and you'd decorate it with stencils, fabric paints, patchwork a bunch of different fabrics, etc. to your partners tastes.
People in each group could decide how many to send to each person, if you want more than one from each person. OR we could have the option to be in 2 groups?
I'd be up for organizing this, as long as i have an experienced organizer as my co-organizer.

I want to make a positive/happy box for my friend with cancer. it's her 2nd time fighting it, she's 14.
Does anyone have some ideas of what to put in it? I just need like general ideas and will adapt them to her interests.

this is probably a ridiculous question, but im going shopping in the morning and need some help.
i'm making my brothers lap quilts, 45x60 inches big.
how many fat quarters do i need for each quilt, roughly?
my math skills are terrible, i apologize. i am making them patch-y quilts, each patch is 5x5 inches.
any help would be excellent.

SO.
my mom owns a boarding and grooming shop. she does cats and dogs. There's 4 rooms- the grooming room, cat room, small dog room, and large dog room. there's 4 kennels in each of the 3 boarding rooms. so, 12 kennels, which all have runs. everything is grey. and boring. I have no "artistic" talent, but am creative. meaning i can't draw or paint. Im thinking of painting each kennel a different color, and making pillows to match. my mom pampers the dogs big time, i want her shop to reflect that. We want it to have bright colors! and fun things.
I need ideas! I want the walls to have things on them. I would really like to do a mural, but thats not happening, because i cant draw, etc. ANY ideas would be appreciated. I am planning on making this a huge project, so any size project ideas are welcome!
