1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Electric Spinner on: February 28, 2006 10:40:30 AM
Does anyone have an electric spinner?  I've been looking at the Babe's Electric Bulky spinner...but haven't been able to find any reviews on it.  The bobbins hold 2 lbs of fiber and I think it would make plying a dream.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Final Soctoberfest Socks on: November 08, 2005 10:50:46 AM
They are done! ok not by the end of october but pretty darn close.  These are my first pair of socks and now I am resdy for my next pair!

I'm going to see if I can spin up some sock yarn and then dye it so it is self striping for the next pair.

4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Optim Merino on: October 19, 2005 01:37:19 PM
Has anyone ever spun Optim?  I just got some today and oh my it feels like Silk or cashmere and the staple length is so long.  do you know if it needs more or less spin than merino?  I usually have very low spin on my merino when I ply it so it's nice and balanced when all done, but this doesn't even look like wool!

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Favorite Fiber Suppliers? on: September 21, 2005 10:38:06 AM
Just wondering...who are your favorite fiber suppliers?
I generally buy natural colored fibers in larger quanitities (a few pounds of each fiber at a time)
and so far I've used and been very happy with the service and prices at:

Paradise fibers
Copper Moose
Bountiful

and of course the random impulse bid on ebay.

I've jsut found this site  http://www.rhlindsaywool.com/products/index.htm For very large quantities of wool.  Has anyone ever ordered from them before?  If I can really start selling more of my yarn I think I'd like to try this.   $9.50 a pound for Merino 64's is really good.
