1  My face and a dirty old bag in Stenciling: Completed Projects by averij on: June 22, 2007 09:50:48 AM
I seem to be the first to post... Roll Eyes I hope I'm doing everything right.
This is the first challenge I ever participated in.

I'm not too big on putting my image on everything I own, it would seem a bit self-centered maybe. But I'm getting very excited about stenciling so I guessed this was a good thing to exercise my stenciling and making of stencils.

I didn't find anything in my closet that I really wanted to stencil my face on, so I took an old, dirty wrinkly bag out of the closet. I can carry my books in it when I go to the library!
I printed out the stencil I made on cardstock, cut it, and painted away with black fabric paint.
So, I used this picture of me:

YES I look odd. It's one of those pictures you never use or show anyone so I guess it finally got a use! It was taken in a classy bathroom in the British embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay, so it has some good memories. (and it turned out pretty clear as a stencil)

Nothing too spectacular, but I got to practice my stenciling skills!
Hey I just noticed that I don't look as surprised on my stencil as I look on the picture...how did that happen?

I'm not a big fan of the cardstock. If anyone would want to swap some wax paper, for who know what with me, send me a PM. I live in Belgium. Well now...what to stencil on next?

I think I'm going to make some other Patrick/The Prisoner stencils.
If you'd ever need 'em, on this page are big big pictures of him, from Danger Man. (which I never saw, but want to see) I used one of them to make my stencil, in word. It's pretty hard to find any good big picture of him using google images, or surfing the fansites.
Here's some stills from the series, the site has some wallpapers too.

I might just stencil this one:

If you find any good pictures on the internet let me know Smiley
Be seeing you!

3  My first crocheted items: hats and a scarf! in Crochet: Completed Projects by averij on: June 20, 2007 07:38:14 AM
Well- looking at the board and all the crazy things craftsters are crocheting I feel a bit embarrased posting these simple things.
I hope to become as good as you guys one day!

First thing I ever crocheted: A scarf. I love the colour of this yarn...I got it in Argentina. (=yarn heaven, I wish I had brought more; but I'm asking my family there to bring some over at christmas!) The red and yellow yarn is also from there.

Beanies, that's what I call 'em:

This one turned out odd, something between half a beanie and a beret. Also, this red is so intense in real life.

What I call an odd shape, yes.

4  first stencils:Evita, Patrick Mcgoohan in Stenciling: Completed Projects by averij on: June 20, 2007 07:18:04 AM
So I had to study for my oral Dutch exam and got so sick of it that I was thinking of the craziest ways to escape studying...so I crocheted two beanies, made a couple of earrings and taught myself (well some surfing around and then I just stenciled away!) how to stencil.

Thank you craftster. I love you. You make exams the sparkiest crafty period of the year!

So, I didn't have any ideas of what to stencil, but I was talking to my Argentinian cousin on gtalk so I decided to go for Eva Pern (Evita). My uncle owns the restaurant next to the Evitamuseum in Buenos Aires. Lovely food, lovely place. (Just so you know)

I found an image I liked and made a stencil out of it in word.
printed on carstock, cut out, placed on random male white shirt I bought (you know, the things they wear under their clothes, I don't know the english word for it) and put fabric paint all over my stencil.
So it's not perfect, but that doesn't matter as it is a shirt to sleep in.

up next:
MY ALL TIME HERO: PATRICK MCGOOHAN. aka Number Six aka The Prisoner. I hope you all know him, cause man, The Prisoner must be the best series ever made in human history.

Just my opinion.

I think I'll have to stencil something like:
-Number Six
-I helped Patrick Mcgoohan escape
-Patrick McGoohan
underneath the image, what do you think?

I wore it to my french exam today. I hope that some the Prisoner fan notices it and comes talk to me, so I can marry him/her. They're a rare breed in Belgium, so I'll take any gender, age or appearance.

by the way, I'm not big on ironing Cheesy

5  XL shirt to tunic-minidress thing in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by averij on: June 06, 2007 05:05:32 AM
I went to the thrift store yesterday and got myself an awesome XL shirt (1 euro yay!). It's even made in the usa  Shocked  It says 'DON'T FIGHT IT' on the front and 'PREFLIGHT IT' on the back, plus some advertisement. Soooo - this is the first thing I reconstructed really. I took in some shirts, but messed up most of the time...I actually wore it today to school. Okay, so it was arts & creativity class so I can be all different but it's still school Smiley

I used this tutorial: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=103577.0
by jesse phoenix. AWESOMENESS. Thank you!
Woo-yay pics!

I look like crap today, I know I know.

It looks a bit messy because of my pose, but it's okay in real life.

My pin has a skull with a beret that says: special forces, and also: mess with the best - die like the rest
BEST EVER PIN. I was twitching up a military beret in class too :O

Beautiful beautiful wallpaper...

No dude...just preflight it!

Post totally sponsored by my local thriftstore and Flightcheck...whatever that is Smiley
