2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Gift for a friend? T__T on: January 29, 2009 03:24:04 PM
Hey guys!  I know there are a lot of posts here on ideas of what to make, so I hope it's alright that I'm making another. j__j
I would like to make something, quick, for a baby.  The assistant manager at the store I work at (Hot Topic) is pregnant and due March 14th!
I've been trying to find something I could make her, but seeing as I'm 17, have no experience with babies, and generally dislike babies, I have no idea what would be a good thing to make.  Cry  I was thinking a stuffed animal, but then I wasn't sure of what kind to make!!  Arghh!
So, any help would be wonderful!
It will be a boy.  And I can sew, and a little bit of knitting and crocheting.  Thanks so much!!!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Dying a shirt on: November 05, 2008 01:08:22 PM
Ahh!  So, a few weeks ago, I accidentally got some bleach on a new shirt, this one to be exact:
http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/product.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302028391&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442177449&bmUID=1225919122351
I only wore the shirt once, so I want to get rid of the bleach spot so I can wear it again!  BUT.  I'm afraid to dye it because I don't want to ruin the screen print on it.  Would the screen print get dyed if I were to dye the shirt black?

Thanks!
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Penguin for my sister on: September 04, 2008 04:30:49 PM
My older sister went to college two weeks ago!  Very upsetting for our family.  So, to remind her of home, I (hand sewed) her a stuffed penguin!  They're her favorite! Grin  I gave him to her early, and she started crying!  Aww D:  I felt bad.  But she liked him, so I was happy!  He didn't take too long to make, just all of the movie Underworld.  =D

Oh!  She keeps him in her dorm, and kids went into her room and were weirded out by him. xD  They were like "Why do you sleep with a stuffed animal?!!" and she said "Because my sister made him for me!" and they were like "Aww Cheesy "
Take care!
5  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Does anyone have any good Vegetarian/Vegan diabetic recipes? on: April 25, 2008 01:10:16 PM
I was recently diagnosed with the early stages of diabetes (it runs big time in my father's family), so now I've got to eat low carbs, and NO sugar. =[
I feel like I'm starving, because I'm afraid to eat anything because it might have too many carbs and sugar.
My doctor told me I should eat meat/fish, but being a vegetarian of two years I absolutely refuse to eat it.
Does anyone have any good recipes?
Thanks so much. xoxox
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing pants. Patterns or anything I should know? on: April 06, 2008 07:35:20 AM
So, while I was down in NYC, my favorite pair of pants (ones that I took the legs in, because I can't find skinny legged pants that look like it on me!) decided that it was time to wear thin and rip on me (I guess I should have seen it coming...  Six hours of nonstop walking, along with them being two years old..)
So now I don't have a good pair of pants again!
I'm interested in trying to make a pair of pants myself, but I don't know what I would be needing, or what to do.  Are there any patterns for pants that someone could recommend? Smiley
Thanks!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sweeney Todd inspired vest and apron on: March 10, 2008 03:58:15 PM
So, for the Tim Burton Swap, my partner told me that she loved the Sweeney Todd clothing style.  So I took a shot at it and I think I did decent. :]

(closeup)

I LOVE this apron.  It's supposed to look like blood splatters.  I'm pretty sure this is something Mrs Lovett would wear.  Wink

And then I also made this vest!

It was my first time working with no pattern.  I think I did pretty good. Smiley  Sadly, I have no action shot.  And the buttons are messed up.  Whoops.  I love those buttons, though.  They're antique.  I'm not positive, but I think there's a chance they're mother of pearl.  That's what I was told they were when I bought them. XD

Alsoo, I know it's not the right section, but I'm going to post this in here anyways.
;x
Mrs Lovetts Meat Pies!

I made that with fabric paint!  Actually, it took me quite forever!  Haha.

Thank you for looking.  :3
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Two stuffies, yay! :D on: February 21, 2008 12:00:42 PM
So, for the Stuffie Swap I created two stuffies.  My partner received, so I thought I'd post 'em here. Cheesy
Here they are together:

Now individual pictures:

That one is Patrik von Bteerstine!  He has a story!
Patrik von Bteerstine wasnt the smartest stuffie in the suitcase.  Abandoned shortly after his birth, he spent his life (up until now) being raised by the baboons in one of the best zoos in Iceland.  However, he doesnt have the best hygiene and manners.  The baboons that raised him taught him many things, like which people will give you candy compared to one of those yucky apples, to how many steps are in the Waltz (which was a very, very hard thing for him to learn.).  When he's not busy learning from the baboons, he enjoys taunting the younger penguins.  They find the color of his skin to be fascinating, and are always trying to get it from him.  While it does scare him, he enjoys their feeble attempts.

And the other is Mr. Henry Ghouliaard the Hobo!

This is his story:
Mr.  Henry Ghouliaard the Hobo, one of the most prestigious hobos you will ever meet.  He enjoys spending his time eating caviar (that he found in the rich peoples trash!) and trying to get people to buy his used underpants.  He doesnt sell much, and he just doesnt understand why!  WHY DONT PEOPLE BUY MY UNDERPANTS?!! he is often seen screaming to the sky.  When hes not munching on caviar, he enjoys the cherry Now and Laters.  This might just be the reason why his teeth are red.  He doesnt brush them often.  In his life, there are two things he loves (other than the caviar and cherry Now and Laters), and that would be the little buttercup flower he keeps in his hat, and his haute couture paisley jacket.  Dont ask him where he got it, he wont tell.

Thanks for looking!  Smiley
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ohmigosh TINY HAT! :D! on: February 02, 2008 06:41:57 AM
I was inspired to make this by looking at CaterpillarPeacock's tiny hats. ;B  I love hers and they are amazing.

It's my first time really crocheting something that's not like...  Scarf-like.  I'm very proud of myself.  :x  I'm also a total beginner crocheter...  My aunt tried to teach me a few years ago, but I could never learn it.  So!  For Christmas she taught me how again, and bought me a crochet hook and a giftcard to go get some yarn.  Smiley  I was very excited.  She only taught me the very basics, but it was enough to get me to try it out more.  I now love it.  And I have a hard time watching tv without some yarn and a hook. XD
No pattern used.  I think they're waaaaaaay too hard to understand to try and make something from. :X
I plan on putting a hairclip on it for if like, my sister wants to use it or something (It blends in with my black hair XD)

Modeled by my kitty<3

Modeled by my Zidane plush (to give you an idea of it's size, I think Zidane's about 7inches tall.)

And by itsself.  Cheesy

I really love the tiny hats, so I'm going to try and make another one.  But bigger.  I wanna try felting...
Thanks for looking!!!   Grin Grin Grin
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a pattern... on: January 11, 2008 04:13:42 PM
Hi there! Cheesy
So.  I'm looking for a pattern for a jacket.  I'm interested in making one similar to that of Beetlejuice!

So, I was wondering.  Are there any patters that are similar to the way that it looks?
I mean, it doesn't have to be a jacket pattern.  I could add sleeves onto a vest one if need be. Smiley

Also.  What kind of fabric would I use for this?  I'd like to make pants at some point, too.
(My mom doesn't want me buying the Beetlejuice costume. Sad )

Thank you so much! <333
