1  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Violet Baudelaire's coat on: November 20, 2006 08:11:57 AM
I think Butterick 4929, view C is pretty close.

When I get a chance, I'd like to make a Violet coat for myself!

Good Luck.
2  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Punk Rock Backpack on: June 30, 2004 06:39:45 AM
Hey, about the question for what to put in the bottom to stiffen the bag...try plastic needlepoint canvas.  It's really cheap and sturdy, but flexible, and will hold up!

Loved all the bags!  I've wanted to make this backpack for a while, but I'm a project whore and won't let myself start until I finish a couple of other things :-)

My favorite place for funky old vintage fabric and stuff I don't need is Treasure Mart.  It's downtown by Farmer's Market on Detroit Street, past Zingerman's.  You need to go there!  Value World is a good place to find misc. cheap stuff, either on Stadium/Maple or in Ypsi.  There's an awesome fabric resource in Ypsi called Michigan Fabrics, I think.  It's past Value World and looks like a nondescript warehouse.   Hundreds of rolls of fabrics and huge remnants for $1.  You all must go there!  I go to Flying Sheep sometimes on my way home from work, but, Knit Around Yarn Shop on Plymouth Road is my absolute favorite!!!

I'm totally psyched that there are so many crafty ladies here...except, I don't know any and I don't ever see any!  Anybody a totally compulsive knitter/sewer?  I'd like to get a bunch of people to meet at any old coffee shop to have a knitting/craft circle.  Anyone interested?
