1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / ACU Purse on: February 10, 2010 05:55:48 AM
To honor my DH that is serving in Afghanistan, I decided to make a purse out of a pair of his ACU's (Army uniform)
I used a Simplicity Pattern (2617) and left some steps out.
I made Pattern A
I did not quilt the top of the purse
I left out the Zipper on the inside Pocket and I left off the Magnetic Closure.
I made the front from the same ACU fabric ( the pattern calls for 2 different Fabrics)
I also left out the Padding in the Purse itself (I only put the Interfacing), but I did put the patting in the Strap.

I love my new Purse and I will still add some Velcro Patches to the front Pockets that I will embroider myself.
Pattern Purse made from Pattern A (the one that is shown hanging over the chair in the top left)

Front waiting for me to sew on the velcro parts

Inside Pocket and Lining (Pink Valentine fabric)

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Shade Panels for Gazebo on: July 20, 2009 07:11:35 AM
We bought a Gazebo and needed to get some shade panels for it. Unfortunatley the ones they make for the Gazebo were sold out and only went half way down. I decided for the price it would be cheaper to sew my own and went ahead and did that. Used Canvas and a Printed Fabric. The Gazebo is 10x10 feet and the fabric was only 60 inches, that is why decided to add a printed fabric bottom to it. Sewn and hemmed, added heavy duty gromets to the tops and 3 on each side to attach to the sides. Here are a before with the mosquito netting and then after with the shade panels. I made it where I can roll them up if I decide to.
Let me know what you think

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Yummy Artisian Bread on: May 23, 2009 05:30:19 AM
ok, so I wanted to get into Breadmaking, and I googled Artisian Breads.
I found a very easy recipe, that was posted on Instructables ( http://www.instructables.com/id/Artisan_Bread_in_Five_Minutes_a_Day/) very simple ingredients.

I went to the website for the book ( http://www.artisanbreadinfive.com/ ) and checked out different baking methods. Since I found a Rmertopf (german claybaker) at the Thriftstore and they have some instructions on how to bake in that to get the perfect crust.
So here is my end result looks and taste great as you can see my son chowing down. The bread was gone within 10 minutes after everyone trying it. LOL

very easy for someone like me that never baked with a yeast dough before.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Apple to Betty Boop on: April 14, 2009 08:01:01 AM
Ok, so years and years ago I inherited this lovely "coupon holder" from my MIL,
I have been using it for that for the last 10 years, and I decided, it was time to make it over into something else, Since I got a new Coupon holder to hold my coupons.
Here I have taken the sides apart:

here it is completely taken apart, and I used the pieces to make a pattern for later use when I want to make another one. I left the lining with Zipper and insert intact, because I was too lazy to make a new one Smiley

Now, I decided I wanted something cute from my stash and remembered I had some Betty Boop Biker Fabric
here shown with the rest of the pieces I reused:

After re-sewing it and finishing off the raw edges on the inside here is what I came up with:

Just big enough to fit my wallet and phone

and last but not least the zipper pull:

So, what you think?
C&C welcome
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First Aid Kit *IMAGE HEAVY* on: March 10, 2008 06:37:22 PM
So we got us an ATV and decided we need a First aid kit to go with it.
Looking at Walmart and not happy with the selection of Premade First aid Kits I decided to make my own to my liking.
I did not use a pattern for the bag, kinda just had something invisioned and went for it.
I made sure to make a little spot for everything I wanted in there and layed it all out.
I got a new toy (embroidery machine Singer Futura CE-250) and I embroidered the Ambulance and words "First Aid" onto the front. It has a Zipper going around 3 sides so I can lay it open flat. I decided on the Camo Fabric, since We have a Camo colored ATV. I also used some Plastic Canvas on the inside to make it a bit more stable. It also has a handle to carry it around.

Let me know what you think Smiley

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / American Choppers Hoodie on: March 10, 2008 06:32:30 PM
My son picked this fabric out of the Bargain Bin at Hancocks and asked if I could make him a Hoodie, so this is what I made him. I kinda mixed and machted some Thriftstore patterns together to make it fit him.
Let me know what you think Smiley
