hey hey there! this is a craft-along where we use up all our scrap paper, images, leftover playing cards, stickers, ephemera, and small bits of "junk" we can never bear to throw away. that being said, all these projects have one thing in common - PAPER! the biggest piece in any of these projects is 6x6"!!

here's what we'll do: every five days or so i'll post a project tutorial, and if not photos of my own works, "inspiration links" to help the crafting process, then anyone who wishes can post their completed project. there's no need to complete every single one; pick and choose as you wish! here's our list:

okay, so if you guys are like me, you always have scraps when making a paper project... and if you're like me, you also hoard them. and old scrapbook pages, images, ephemera....
i don't know what it is about pretty paper, but i just can't give it up.
so i racked my brain and came up with about 30 different scrap paper projects, all using pieces 6x6" or smaller.

the idea is i'd post a different project every week, then see what people come up with!

so these are my family's tradition every year: even my great grandma made these... although she used coffee and pureed beets for dye....

so i was in charge of setting the easter table at home, and i wanted to do something creative with our napkins... so behold, napkin folding a la bunny!



this is a variation on the rose napkin on this site:

HOW-TO

1. take a regular ol' square napkin (i think mine are 15 or 16") and fold all the corners into the center


2. then take those corners and fold them to the center


3. flip it (not shown) and fold the corners to the center a third time (shown)


4. tricky part: hold the center with one hand, then reach underneath with the other and pull two of the corners out for the ears


4. still holding the center, fold the bottom two corners underneath for his little face. use a hershey's or other small candy to weight down the center (they like to pop up), but let the bottom one pop up a little for his nose. ta-da!!!

so i went through this phase where i got a deck of cards every time i went somewhere new. not like around town new, but travelling. so as a result, i have about 17 decks of cards. they are currently taking up a lot of space in a drawer that i could be using for other stuff (i'm majorly downsizing right now). i could make a few atc's, or cover notebooks, but that's still way too many cards!!! i don't want to throw them all out... you guys are the most creative people i know!

i love half-homemade projects... they're sooo much easier.

so, here's my peach crunch surprise pie.... i call it a surprise pie because no one ever expects the raspberry at the bottom, and most have no idea there's coconut in the topping!!!



ingredients:
one premade pie crust (i like to use shortbread)
one can raspberry pastry filling
one large can peach pie filling
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
3/4-1 cup flake coconut

1) preheat over to 375. spread a layer of raspberry pastry filling on the bottom of the pie. i used about 2/3 of the can, though come to think of it you could use a layer of raspberry pie filling -or- raspberry jelly (to avoid seeds).
2) spread the peach pie filling evenly over the top of the raspberry goodness.
3) melt butter in a large, microwave safe bowl. add the flour, sugar, and coconut and mix with a fork until evenly distributed in crumbs. you guessed it - spread evenly over the peach filling.
4) bake for 30-35 minutes or until the crumb topping gets nicely browned.

enjoy!!! one warning though... it's a very gooey gooey pie! don't expect it to stay in one place after you cut it!

okay, so what to do on a dreary day? raid my bead stash, drive to the store on slippery roads, and then spend all afternoon with a flourescent lamp and jewelry pliers.

the results? 3/5 completed projects!!! i'd say 1/2 of everything was from my stash, and 1/2 i bought today.

this has been my first post coming off an incredibly long hiatus..... please be kind!!

it only has two layers of fleece, and i think it lays a little better, but it's still warm as anything!
it must be good luck too, the hawks won the same day i finished it!

alrighty, so i have a few hundred strips of paper that are roughly 1.5" by 5.5"... it seems a waste to throw them all away, so i figured i'd ask the crafty people what i should do with them!
bookmarks crossed my mind, but i don't know anyone who needs THAT many! the only thing that crossed my mind that i didn't want were paper chains... i have rarely any contact with children anymore!

so... anyone got any ideas?
