1  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Rusted Root on: October 09, 2007 10:02:30 PM
goodkarma -- as everyone else has already stated, i love your neckline.  i wish i had knitted mine after you had finished yours.  i just wore mine the other day and the only complaint i had about mine was the neckline was too high -- i kept pulling at it.  i love your square neckline and the color is gorgeous.

Jints -- thanks for the links to the cowls.  i do like the lacy ones:)

isisfae -- thanks for another suggestion and pix of your mom's shrug.  i took another look at the dream swatch after reading your comments and it's calling out to me.  i probably wont wear it as a headband and i wanted to avoid making a scarf, but the pattern is so pretty that maybe i will make it a little wider and wear it as a scarf.  i think i will wear a scarf more than a cowl:)

isisfae --i love dream swatch but i think i have too much yarn for it --i want to use it all up if possible with one project:)

curlyredheadgirl -- can you believe i've never worn a shrug?  i do have one on needles right now that's almost done, but i've kind of lost interest in it so i dont know when it'll get done.  And, I've never been to Babetta's but i've heard wonderful things about it.  I live in midtown so I mostly frequent Rumple's.

what one skein wonder did you knit?  i'd love to see a photo if you have one:)

whatatotaldrag -- no, it was cotton fleece "candy apple" -- i don't know why they call it that color because it's more of a burgundy. the color is truer to the second photo.
how far are you along?  i would love to see your pics when you finish.

thanks for the suggestions!

tempestt03 -- yes, a cowl, was the word I was looking for.  thanks also the moebius scarf suggestion -- i've never heard of such a thing but it's so neat.

now, to decide what to knit...

love the neckline!

I have 115 grams of malabrigo (angora) and I don't know what to knit with it.  It's super soft so I'd love something around my neck/head but not a scarf.  Maybe a tube thing around my neck/head -- what are those things called?  Should I do mittens -- or is that a waste of the yarn?
I'd love any suggestions, esp patterns and/or where I can find the pattern you suggest.
Thanks!
Also, I live in Sacramento, CA so it doesn't really get that cold here, but I'd love to wear what I knit as much as possible.

Finally, to both finishing and posting!

Beginning was a bit difficult, but after putting the sleeves on scrap yarn, it was a breeze.  I started with xs but probaby switched to a small for the underarm part -- I had to knit more rounds for the underarm to be comfortable.  My sleeves aren't as poofy as I wanted and the neck is a bit too high, but overall I'm very happy with it.  Loved the lace pattern.  It's my first sweater!

My paolo decided he needed to be in the picture --kept jumping up on me until I picked him up.  Probably bad reinforcement, but what can I do?

I love that you gave him a tail.  Of course his front shot is so terrifying, but I love his backshot -- he's so cute on his tippy toes.
