Hooray for clothes that fit. It's not easy buying a shirt for someone else!

I took camera phone pics, so they're not the clearest shots ever. My parents are in Mauritius with my good camera, and my small one is playing up. Hope these will do for now. Nilmerg, please feel free to post better pics.

These pilllowslips have purple patchwork bits across the top and buttons orbiting the bit wher you insert the pillow. Like the technical terms?  Grin The purple is really lovely and these will go on my pillows very soon.

Here's my progress so far:
On the right is the front cover and the pages. The back cover is sitting on the left. Do you see what looks like an iron print on the tag? That's an iron print. Don't iron near your book label. Luckily it's still readable. Phew.

The pages are calico hemmed with simple zig zag. I covered each cover in calico and hemmed the edges. The dove is a block print in black ink. The front has a window looking through onto the original cardboard where I used masking fluid to write 'hope'. Below that is 'Asha: Transforming Lives in the slums of Delhi'. That's the Asha centre. mission statement, so it seemed to fit well.

I got two parcels today. Yay!

Troublet sent this lovely karate hoop. The character between the karateka reads 'wei' in Chinese. In Chinese it means fear, but in Japanese it has the added meaning of awe and reverence. Since karate is a Japanese martial art and I practice a Japanese form, I think this is really suitable.

Thanks so much. This is really lovely. The design is so elegant and well stitched.

The other hoop is from the lovely Averia, who has lovely handwriting.

Can you believe the stitching? The outline is metallic thread.  Shocked\
The characters are 'Nanyang' - the town I used to live in in China. It's a rural nowhere town but it's pretty special to me.

These are going up on my wall right away. Thanks so much to both of you.  Smiley

Here is jmiller614's other card which mysteriously arrived about 2 weeks after her first card. Strange!

It's inspired by Ai Wei Wei's Forever Bicycles artwork. It's got siginficance for both of us. I studied sculpture at art school and did politics (with a China focus) in my BA. I've also lived in China, speak Chinese and take a special interest in Chinese art and politics - especially Ai Wei Wei's 'mysterious' disappearance.

This one is going up on my pinboard. Thanks so much!

Now I know why this took so long to get to me!

Notice my address is in Australia. The stamp says 'missent to Jamaica'
Glad it got here eventually!

So, the front fell off one of the cards I sent Jmiller614... how annoying!

Here they are both together. She didn't get the bird card, just a plain piece of cardboard with her address on the back..  Huh

Here's the stuff I pinched from Nilmerg.

Paper stuff

Fabric and embroidery threads

Little bits for making an Eye-Spy bag and stamps for mum

This has been such fun so far. Thanks, Nilmerg! THe parcel is on it's way again - or, rather will be this afternoon when I get to the post office.  Cheesy

Jmiller614 sent me this beauty!

I just love love love Chinese propaganda. This is a fabulous collage representing a propaganda poster. She's got the characters spot on as well. Thanks so much! I hope mine make their way to you as quickly as possible.

29  Re: Wall Art 3 Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by schnerby on: February 27, 2011 01:21:34 PM
Guess who just discovered the gallery... Embarrassed

I'm a super organised person (mostly...) so I keep all my electircal/computer/tv/camera/laptop stuff together in one place. That meant when the ceiling caved in in a storm everything got wet. Boo.

So, here is my attempt as pictures of Tanza's lovely art on my second-string camera. Sorry for the poor quality of the one behind glass - we all know how hard glass is to photograph.

It's Jack and the beanstalk. The glass got broken, but I think it will be ok without glass. I'll try that, and if it doesn't work I'll reframe it.

She also sent these two delightful hoops. I just love the little bat boy. These are both up on my bedroom walls. The quality of the line from the sewing machine is really beautiful. I love this kind of drawing.

Thanks Tanza!

Here's some more pictures of craftaddiction's awesomeness.

My Mario attacked Goomba as soon as he saw him.
