I needed a bag for school and decided to make this from some clearance denim I bought about a year and a half ago when the Hancock Fabrics Store was closing down the street.
I originally wasn't too keen on using denim since I think sometimes you risk looking kinda cheesy...do you know what I mean?
Anyway, I decided with a really cool stencil I could avoid that, plus the denim is nice and strong to carry around my heavy math textbooks. I love how it turned out, it's the perfect size for all my school junk, but also not breaking my shoulder which is nice.
Here are a few pics...
All packed up and off to school.
Close Up of the Stencil
I wanted to make this quickly, so I just went for super simple, no clasps or anything. I did add a few pen/pencil caddies, plus a little pocket for keys, phone and calculator.
K, this was a nightmare. I had made the srap and got everything done and decided that for the weight of my load, the strap was waayy too long. I went ahead and chopped the strap right in the middle and ended up doubling (technically quadrupling) the fabric and sewing it directly at the top. I'm actually pretty pleased with how it worked out because now it is SUPER sturdy and it gives my shoulder a bit of padding too!
Thanks for looking!
