1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Girly Rat Bedding (IMG pudgy) on: March 18, 2009 10:02:36 PM
Ok, so I'm in an animal behavior class right now.  We're doing a post-natal development series of labs with rats.  After we're done with that, the rats will be free to a good home, so of course I planned to adopt one. Which quickly became two, maybe three.  Then I got a big cage for cheap so it became planning for 4 rats *le sigh*.  So, also of course, I went waaay over board making cute rat bedding for the as-yet-unpopulated cage.  Since I'm planning on female rats (my lab rat is female, and I'm definately getting her), I wanted something pink and came across the cutest fabric EVER.  Without any further babbling, the pics.

Please ignore my country tablecloth.  In a couple weeks when I actually *get* my rats, I'll update with action shots.  I was just too excited about it to wait to post.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pseudo-Punk Striped Skirt on: March 20, 2008 09:02:34 PM
I found this delightful red and black striped knit at walmart for $1/yd.  Of course I now own tons of it.  This is the first thing I've done with it: a squared circle skirt.  Being a noob, I cannot directly post the pics, but here are the links.

modeled by my new kitchen floor

On me.  Ignore my horribly clashing pink shirt. I just tossed it on over my jeans to get the pic.

I adore it.  It moves beautifully when I walk and, being a knit, it nice and lightweight for summer.  I used a little less than a yard of the fabric and there's some 1.5" no-roll elastic in the waistband.

I'm thinking matching elbow-length gloves are next....
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / The Petticoat that ate my cat. on: March 06, 2008 10:13:59 PM
Well.  I got a silly idea in my head to make a petticoat for a later project instead of buying one.  One yard of muslin, 2 yards of tulle, and 10 days of crying later, I have this.  I adore the thing now, but I swear, every time i turned around my cat was in the piles of tulle.  If my cat liked catnip, I would say the tulle must have been contaminated with kitty PCP.

There are three rows of tulle, each overlapping the one below it.  It is quite fluffy.
