1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pink Dress on: January 27, 2008 05:57:58 PM
I made a pink dress for my daughter.  The fabric is gorgeous.  It's a faux suede that I purchased at JoAnn's.  There is metallic leaves printed on top.  The fabric looks heavier than it is and I think I may do another lighter dress that can be worn into spring.  And it has to be dry cleaned.Sad  What was I thinking?  I used Simplicity 5483.

Here is the front.  I received a new Brother sewing machine for Christmas that made the button holes so easy.  I just push a button...

On the back there is a tie.

I made a few mistakes, but all in all it is a really easy and fast pattern.  Anyway, she likes it, so I'm good too.

I received my cookies from caitlinlovesyou!  Thanks!  That was the best packing job I've ever seen.  I can't wait to rip into them for dessert tonight.

First, the pictures...

The cute Christmas tin...

The cookies inside...

And now the recipes...

Busy Day Chocolate Cookies
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 t. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup peanut butter
3 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 t. vanilla

Measure sugar, butter, salt, milk and cocoa into a large saucepan.  Stir until sugar is dissolved over medium heat.  Bring to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat.  Stir in peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal, mix well.  Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.  Cool completely and enjoy!

Fantasy Fudge
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1  1/2 pkg. Baker's Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, chopped
1 jar (7 oz.) Jet-Puffed Marshmellow Creme
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1 t. vanilla

Line 9-inch square pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan; set aside.  Place sugar, butter, evaporated milk in large, heavy sauce pan.  Bring to a full rolling boil on medium heat, stirring constantly.  Boil 4 minutes or until candy thermometer reaches 234 degrees.  Remove from heat.  Add chocolate and marshmellow creme; stir until completely melted.  Add walnuts and vanilla; mix well.  Pour immediately into prepared pan; spread to form an even layer.  Let stand at room temperature until completely cooled (about 4 hours).

Peanut Butter Bonbons
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 t. baking soda
1 egg
1 1/2 t. vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
2 t. solid vegetable shortening

In a large mixing bowl beat the butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer on high for 30 seconds.  Add the brown sugar and baking soda; beat until combined.  Beat in egg and vanilla.  Beat in as much of the flour and you can with the mixer.  Stir in any remaing flour with a wooden spoon.  Shape dough into 1-inch balls.  Place balls 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased sheets.  Bake in preheated 350 degree oven, or until cookies are set and lightly browned on the bottom.  Remove cookies and cool on rack.  In medium saucepan, heat chocolate and shortening over low heat till melted.  Cool slightly.  Using a fork, dip peanut butter balls, one at a time, into chocolate mixture to coat.  Transfer to waced paper-lined baking sheets.  Chill till firm.

Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup peanut butter

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Combine ingredients and mix well.  Roll into 1-inch balls.  Place on an ungreased cookie pan.  Press iwth back of a fork.  Press again in the opposite direction to make criss-cross marks.  Bake for 8-10 minutes.

I received my pkg. from Estrata.  Thank you!

I am having trouble uploading photos, so I will post what I can and edit later.

Here are two ornaments from Estrata.  She said she experimented, and I think it turned out wonderful.

And I got the pic working...  Here is the last ornament.

I will add the third ornament later, when I figure out the problem.

I also mailed Estrata two ornaments, which I will edit in later.
And here they are...

And I sent her some lemon bath salts I made.

Thanks Estrata and thanks bruisedpeach22 for organizing.  I hope you all enjoy the holiday season. Smiley
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Lovely Ornament from bruisedpeach22 on: December 03, 2007 08:07:25 PM
I received my OTT today from bruisedpeach22.  It is a cute ornament.  I had just put up my Christmas tree, so it was fun to hang it right up.  Thanks so much bruisedpeach.  I really wish I could crochet/knit (and I can't at all), so this was perfect.

My angel, sinellia, really came through.

First, the recipe book....  It is in a binder, with a TON of recipes.  She is so organized.  It has a Table of Contents and is divided into sections.  It is all typed and really well done.  She did a great job.  I feel spoiled.  Here is a pic of it opened.

She also sent some tangy Cuban Mojito sauce that looks delicious and some quinoa that I can't wait to try.   I saw the recipe a low-fat salad with the quinoa as I was flipping through the book that I am going to try tomorrow.

Wow.  Thanks again, sinellia.  I feel very lucky.  You are an awesome angel.  Best to you in the future.  You should have some good karma coming your way.

I am so pleased with everything.  Thanks again.  I'm wearing the apron as I type, again. Smiley

Ok... the pictures don't do the the kitchen items justice either.

Tuesday sent me this apron, oven mitt and hot pad in great fabric.  I have already used all three and am wearing the apron as I type.  These were made really, really well.  I hope to have that kind of skill someday.

Here are the goodies.  They won't last long around my house.  Yum!

And here is the recipe holder.  Which is perfect for taking our favorite recipes with us on our houseboat.  Thanks.

Thanks so much Tuesday!  What a wonderful package!

My partner, PatriaE, asked me to post pics.

I chose her nautical theme and made a bag with some of her favorite colors.

I made her an idea book/swap journal.  These next pictures are of the book before it was put together.  Under the idea section, I just put blank paper decorated with dolphins.  In the swap journal section, there are the forms shown in the picture.

And lastly, I sent some homemade magnets.

I hope you liked everything PatriaE!  I had fun crafting for you and I thought all your themes were great ideas.
