1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: boob scarf (may be not work safe) on: January 06, 2008 08:01:04 AM
My friend and I made two scarves for gag gifts and they were so much fun!  I wanted to throw a piercing on mine, but I was too impatient.  Her friends loved them and wear them to the bar!  I posted it on Ravelry (I'm KnittingHeather)  I also love that someone's granny is making them at the senior center! lol

Ksenya- I tried to link to you on Ravelry but it wasn't in there- are you on Ravelry?

I finally got the mini circular clover needles in the mail today.  I was so pumped!  I opened them and thought, wow they look a little small to be a size 10.  I pulled out the trusty gauge checker, and they measure between a US 8 and 9.   Huh  These are the only size the company carries, it seems other sizes are no longer available.  Since the packaging is in Japanese, I can't tell what the unit of measure is next to the 10.  Is Japanese sizing different??  Does anyone else have these??

Sounds kind of confusing, but I think I can picture it.  Maybe I'll try it tonight.  I let you know!!

Can you use the magic loop method with the same needle you did the body?

Is Knitpicks Options needles with 32 length long enough for Magic Loop?  I've never done it before but could probably figure it out from www.knittinghelp.com.  I have 47 stitches right now and will decease 2 sts every 5th round.

Since it is a sleeve, have you considered using a 16" circular instead?  Sometimes I have laddering issues with dpns, sometimes I don't.  I tend to find that the more I'm freaking out about something and over-working the problem (as I'm guessing from the amount of your swearing), the more it happens no matter what I do.  If you do have problems with laddering with the circular, at least it is just at one spot and that's easily enough remedied.

The sweater is for a 6 yr old so there are not enough stitches for 16'' circular.   Sad

I've tried moving that join along, but it just looks loose and sloppy.  I don't know if I can live with it.  I might try to kind of wet block what I have to see if it helps.  I would die if it looked crappy after finishing both sleeves.  It doesn't help that the metal DPN are Susan Bates and weigh about 10 lbs.

I found the short Clover mini-circular in US10 (the only size they have- are they discountinued?) and ordered it today.  I think it was meant to be since that's the size I need.  If that doesn't work, maybe knit in the round on two long circulars??  I've never done it- does that help with laddering?

I know what you mean.  I go through this from time to time.  Maybe it's the time of year, I don't know.  I also love the knitting but procastinate actually doing it.  Instead I'm reading about it, looking at it, etc.  Sometimes I switch and crochet something quick and easy.  I wish I knew how to break the funk  Undecided

Try www.knittingpatterncentral.com  or www.bevscountrycottage.com .  Both have tons of patterns sorted by type (hats, blankets, etc) .  It might take some digging but I'm sure you would find a few there.
Good luck  Smiley
