1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Corset + bustle from flea market materials (sculpture-ish) on: January 21, 2011 01:38:37 PM
Hi everyone! I had the hardest time deciding where this topic might belong, so... I'm here. Cheesy

This is a sculpture-thingy I made for school a year ago. It's build fully from materials we got from a sponsoring flea market (most of them were going to trash!) and it got to be in my school's summer exhibition. The corset is made from gauze and some random scrap of canvas, and the bustle is made of scarves, tablecloths, blankets, cloths, towels, skirts, winter cap, aaand... Well, a lot of random scraps and gauze as well.

They are both wearable, though the bustle would require some reinforcement to stay in shape, as I'm using an aluminum mesh "sculpture" as a mannequin. The corset is actually transparent because of the gauze, so the mesh allows light to come trough.

Oh, and the name at the top, it's Finnish word meaning either breath, ghost, life, spirit, soul and wraith. Take your pick! Cheesy (the address at the bottom is my dA-account, you can ignore that if you will)
Let me know what you think!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Staring pencil case on: December 12, 2009 07:30:23 AM
I was in adesperate need of a pencil case, and finally thought I should do something about it. I got inspired by a pencil case I saw here (I think?) some time ago, but I can't find the topic anymore! I can't believe how disturbing this turned out Cheesy I was going to make it feet, too, but I guess I kinda lost my temper while making them and decided to leave them out.

I can't wait till monday to show off this at school!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Lace + ribbons + pink + punk + black + goth = A new handbag! on: November 21, 2008 05:38:42 AM
I recently fell in love with virgil65's bags here on craftster and wanted to do something similar but with my style in it, too. So here's my take!

Front view. There is actually no zipper or other closing method, I just make a bow with the two ribbons attached to the opposite sides of the bag. There are also smaller ribbons on the sides; tying them tighter makes the bag a bit smaller (and looks prettier to me xD) but if I need more space I can just loosen the bows a bit ore open them.

Sorry for the flash backview, but I was running out of sunlight. There's a small zipper pocket, as you can see. I also put two pockets in the inside lining, one perfectly sized for my cellphone and other one a bit bigger for random small stuff.

And again, sorry for the flash macro shot. Here you can see the side ribbon I told you earlier, looks nicer in real life Cheesy

Thanks for looking!
4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Metal Gear Solid 3: Ocelot Unit Member on: November 04, 2008 11:37:19 PM
This is a costume I made for my brother a while ago. For those who don't know, it's supposed to be an Ocelot Unit member (thus the title) from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

I'ts still not 100% finished because I'm not totally happy with the color of the fabric, so it's going to be dyed. It's also missing the compulsory question mark/whichever.

The first random comment he got for this costume at Tracon II (III?) was from a former cosplay contest judge who said "Almost perfect. You're just missing the questionmark." My brother then came to me, said what he had just heard and then we headed to my firends car and looked what we could do. We were practically going to tear the car apart for some material. Then we found a last years map for the same convention from the glove compartment, taped it to a stick from a random bush just outside the parking hall, and borrowed a big, red marker from the info. Oh, and attached the whole uglyness the the head with safety pins, which we painted black with other borrowed marker.

That was really, really fun!

The photo appears somewhat small (at least to me), so if you care for bigger image, here's the link for it.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pink and black victorian overbust corset on: November 04, 2008 11:30:50 PM
Half a meter of some curtain fabric (which was pretty, by the way), 20 steel bones, both spiral and flex ones, 19 pairs of grommets and over 8 meters of lacing, which is too little for my 'broad' shoulders.

I made this for Emilie Autumn gig, and I kinda like this. Making this was pretty fun, though I had to redo things a lot. And it took me three days to complete this, and a few fingers.

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Need help finding patterns/or anything useful! on: January 21, 2008 02:21:36 AM
So, I'm making my brother a costume of this type. Not this especially, but the jacket and the pants are the same (what are those pants, called, anyway?). They appear in a game called Metal Gear Solid 3, which is placed somewhere in the 60s (1964-67 is my guess) in Soviet union, and they're Soviet troops, too.

I'm having hard time thinking of good search terms so my results are really crappy. I've been thinking that If I just added a little more space in the sides of a regular pants pattern, but I'm not sure how it would work out and I don't really have too much fabric to spend.
As for the jacket, I think I could cope with pretty much anything even a little similar to that, just some adjustments here and there and voil.

So all in all, any help will be greatly appreciated!
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Pile of different and not so different stuff on: July 18, 2007 04:31:14 AM
Well, I simply love black and white pictures. For some reason they seem to be so strong yet frail at the same time. Don't ask me, I'm weird.
But anyway. Here's some piccies I've done during a some heard parts of my life, drawing/painting is a good way for me to get some comfort.

You can check them if you want at my bucket, they're all nicely thumbnailed there so you don't need to wait for big piccies to load here.

Some of them are quite dark, so I wouldn't suggest taking a look if you get easily offended or something o___O
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Red & Black + skulls + tulle = how original of me on: July 18, 2007 04:10:25 AM
So. I made a skirt for me, actually quite a while ago. Now that my comp and net are up and working (and I have a camera of my own Cheesy) I should be post piccies of stuff I have made more often. Enough babbling, here's the skirt.

IGNORE THE MESSY ROOM. And no, my feet aren't THAT white, I just had hard time with the lighting.

It has a layer of tulle underneath the skull fabric, and ruffled tulle attached to the underskirt. No, I can't write xD Actually. This is the first skirt I wore voluntarily for a long time o____o
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I got 6 boxes of fabric...and I have no idea what to do with them! on: April 02, 2007 05:20:57 AM
So yeah, that pretty much tells everything. I got 6 boxes, make that really BIG boxes, of fabrics. They vary from velvet to satin, lycra to cotton. There's everything!

The problem is that I have no idea what to do with them. I'd want to do myself something punky or gothy, but anything else is fine, too.
Sooo, I was hoping that you creative geniuses could help me a bit here, give me some suggestions and ideas...!
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Purse for my mom on: April 02, 2007 04:39:43 AM
Soo, I made a purse for my mom a while ago...! I should've been actually studying for my matriculation examinations, but you know the feeling, it just had to be done. She picked the greyish-brown/brownish-grey fabric, it's actually really pretty. Aaand...oh yeah, the button is just decorative, it has a snap fastener under the flap.

Ignore the poor image quality, I think the camera hates me. Also, ignore the bookshelf and the lame stuff lying there.

And a blurry action shot, what more could you ask for! Yeah, now you get the idea about the size. (blindingly red @__@)

Umm, yeah. Don't tell me to clean my room, my mom already told me to Cheesy
