121  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / FanGirl Nintendo Controller Messenger Bag on: May 25, 2008 05:29:25 PM
agh i'm so glad i'm done with this! i was so excited about this project & my enthusiasm quickly dwindled as i started stitching the controller. i had traced it on with graphite paper, which i now believe is the devil and the bag was so dark i lost my lines, & the smudging didn't help either. the fabric was really heavy too so it was pretty difficult to get my thread through in the first place. it actually bent my needle too! Cheesy

so the stitches are pretty sloppy for the controller but you get the jist of what it is  Grin and yeah, i actually spelled out nintendo, start, & select....whew! what a challenge.
honestly, i am happy with the way it turned out, as frustrated as it got me at times...so enough whining about it, here's the pictures!

here's the whole bag...it doesn't look that strange in real life, i promise.

i had started to shade the lettering with yellow but it was all you could see, so i cut it out and just put black instead.

i think next time i embroider a nintendo controller, it will be on white, so you can actually see the colors!

please excuse the wonky pictures, photobucket is being stubborn & won't post the edited ones  Sad

124  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Brass Knuckles, Skull & Bones, Roses, NSFW on: May 01, 2008 09:45:24 PM
so i've been feeling rather hostile & aggressive lately...i blame it on stress.
instead of taking it out on anybody, why not just stitch it up? i finally finished after about a day and a half..i've been practicing making purty stitches Smiley

anyway! hope you like what was the outcome of quite a bit of frustration! haha

as you can probably tell, i had originally started adding some french knots, but didn't like the way they looked too much...so i cut em out

it's definitely my new favorite thing, i'm proud!

127  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / f*ck cancer (word warning) on: April 18, 2008 11:16:57 PM
my dad found out about a week & a half ago that he has cancer..needless to say, it's been really hard on my family, not to mention a complete shock since my dad is kind of a health nut. so i had to make this to aptly describe how i feel about it..hope my dad likes it! funny thing is, i think i'm taking it harder than he is.

thank you everyone for your suggestions! i filled in half...i think it looks better, but i'm still wondering if i should fill it up completely...yeah, i'm kinda ocd. i stopped halfway though, because i'm just exhausted. and i would like to deliver it soon & maybe get some work done while i'm there  Cheesy

129  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / F*ck yeah, it hurts on: April 14, 2008 10:22:13 AM
i think people with tattoos and piercings can appreciate the sentiment   Smiley

i've been thinking about what to make for my buddy/tattoo artist to put in his shop for a while, and finally came up with this...

i'm a wee bit disappointed with the bottom, the lettering is a little messy..but i just ordered jenny's tattoo alphabet, so no more tracing with graphite paper! i had kind of a hard time with the bottom swallow too. all in all, though, i'm happy with how it turned out!

i'm still trying to decide whether i should fill in the lettering or not.
