21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Historical and Cultural costume on: January 23, 2008 10:25:38 PM
I want to know what do you guys think about "historical and cultural costume".

Importance of learning and researching on how to make the costume
Preserving, re-discover the method of making the costume
Re-create the costume and wear them

My friend said: what's the point? We don't wear them anymore.

I respect her different opinion. For me i still think it's important to know them and learn them (at a certain level), so they don't just disappear in our history. Like if you grand grand kids ask, "do people dress like us back in ....?" and we have no answer...that's sad.

Anyone interested in making those costume? And go to meet up/ gala, regarding those costume? may be something like a renaisannce fair!
22  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / To color a rubber stamp, what brand name of marker you suggest? on: January 03, 2008 10:30:01 PM
I want to color a "flower w/ leafs and stem" rubber stamp (not using a ink pad), coz I want the leafs and stem in green, but the flower in a different color.

I know there is some color marker (not permanent) that are good for color on rubber stamp. I went a the crafts store today, there is only one brand, but my friend said she brought it, tried it, it dries too fast.

What brand/products have you tried and think it's good for this purpose?
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / An online tools for arranging meet up and gathering. on: December 30, 2007 10:21:07 PM
I found this site online:
www.meetup.com

People can register and set up meetup group of specific interest, such as crafts, dinning, women social group, Renaissance fair, boardgames, etc.

They got some easy tools, for user like me, who don't even know how to make a blog, but I figure it out how to use this site.

only thing is, you need to pay.......It's free to be a member. There is a monthly cost if you want to organize a group. (I guess there is no free breakfast)

Here is another site:
www.meetin.org/

It's free, it works a bit different than meetup.com

24  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / How to clean a rubber stamps on: December 05, 2007 10:48:17 PM
Is it okay to use make-up remover wet wipes clothes to clean stamps? Will it hurt the stamps?

I forgot to buy those fancy stamps cleaner, and my crafts store is far away from where I live.

After I clean the stamps, I still see some color marks on the stamps, is this normal?
25  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Iron heat fusing plastic beads in IKEA on: December 01, 2007 01:34:04 AM
Today I went to IKEA. I found some "iron heat fusing plastic beads" and the peg boards, in IKEA. It's just like perler beads.

Have anyone try to them?

p.s. I like the kids section, the decorations and the interior designs are so cute ^^!
26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Candy wreath how to? on: November 24, 2007 03:29:50 AM
I saw a candy wreath, it's interesting, does anyone know how to make it? How to tie the candy to the wreath?

The candy are 'both-end' wraped candy, and then there is a scissor connect to the wreath, for cutting the candy. (so, I don't think I suppose to use glue)

28  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafts project + photos + camera on: November 14, 2007 09:46:29 PM
Well, I want to buy an "automatic" digital camera. I heard that now there are some auto digi cam that can also do "details close up" of objects like SLR camera can do. So is there any auto digi cam with such function?

Also, best if they have stability function. Coz I often shake the camera a bit, when I press the "shot" button. I heard some auto digi cam have stability function too.

I am not very skillful in technology, so would be great if the camera is user friendly.

Please suggest a camera. thank you !
