1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Dress to wear to the wedding of inlaws that hate me.. HELP! on: October 18, 2008 11:25:18 AM
I think it rocks and is very figure flattering.  Adding a belt and scarf or chunky necklace in complementing colors would help dress it out.

5  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Birthday Luau Cakes on: July 23, 2008 07:30:52 PM
Thanks, guys!

At the time, I had no clue where to get dry ice because I had never known anyone to use it, but it is apparently pretty common, and only costs $1-2 per pound.  I got mine at my local ice cream shop.
6  COOKING / Dessert / Birthday Luau Cakes on: July 16, 2008 03:50:50 PM
My kids birthdays are only 10 days apart so we have a joint birthday party.  This year's theme was a luau.  All my 9 year old son would tell me was that he wanted a "cool" cake, my 3 year old daughter's was easy, she wanted her favorite "upside down" cake (which fit perfectly with the theme).   I decided on the volcano cake for my son, and it was super easy.   I made  a chocolate cake in a bundt pan, covered it in chocolate icing, dripped red icing on the top and let it run down the sides, colored shredded coconut for the grass, and used green Twizzlers for the trees (which didn't work real great), got some dry ice from a  local ice cream place and we were ready to go.   The kids loved their cakes!

You can make this cake to actually erupt down the sides but the steam effect was easier.

8  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Recycling your old books on: July 05, 2008 07:05:17 PM
If I have textbooks, self help, DIY books etc.  I sell them here

They even pay shipping and give a 3% bonus if you choose to be paid by paypal.

Non fiction I usually just take to our local recycle center sidewalk exchange.  I can't believe some of the great books people have gotten rid of, especially classics!
