21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / For all of you making reversible dresses on: November 07, 2007 06:04:22 AM
I don't know if this should be under the discussions and questions but I don't think too many of you check over there. But feel free to move this over moderators!!!

I've seen those who make the reversible dresses that close with buttons. Except that when you reverse them they look a bit funny where the button should go. I bought my daughter a dress a while back and it had buttons on both sides!

I don't know if you just didn't think of it but there ya go. Put buttons on both side and then your dress won't look odd. Let me know if you need pics!

I think you could put the buttons on before you sew the pieces together and turn it inside out because the buttons end up right on top of each other. Or maybe you could sew on 2 buttons at once.

Just my 2 cents! Happy sewing!  Wink
22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / patchwork pinafore on: August 27, 2007 03:36:26 PM
I went to the annual AQS quilt show here in Nashville and got so inspired by all the beautiful quilts.

I came home and made this patchwork pinafore with my favorite character - Sunbonnet Sue

But I have to say I don't think I will attempt another patchwork dress/clothing item. I kept getting my rows and blocks out of order. *bows to Vegbee* Grin and all those others who make patchwork clothes. All I can say is what was i thinking?

Anyways here's the pics! Enjoy

24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Finally! my tablecloth dress on: August 13, 2007 02:23:21 PM
Here's my previous post(it shows the fabric better):
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=168095.msg1712913#msg1712913

I got the tablecloth on clearance at Dillards for $3 (I actually got 2 but only used 1) I finished the dress a while ago but was waiting to make a shrug or find something to wear underneath (i'm, quite modest) I finally order some undershirts from www.downeastbasics for $10 and I think it looks great with it. I don't think it detracts from the dress at all. Oh and I got the shoes like amonth before I finfished the dress because I knew they would be perfect for the dress.

ANyway here is a pic. I have to get my hubby to take some pics outside because bathroom shots do not do this dress justice so I will post updated pictures soon!

oh yeah I used simplicity 4224 view A

I didn't quite know where to post this so if you think this belongs in quilting, sewing clothes, go ahead and move it admin!

I HATE having to dig around a box for my presser feet so I made this organizer of sorts. I still don't know if I will hang it on the wall or what.

Here's a pic of it all rolled up:

Here's a pic of it open:

Here's the tute:

29  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Ribbing? on: June 04, 2007 05:19:26 AM
I found a tank top pattern and it calls for ribbing. Is this something I can buy or do I just make it from the knit fabric- kind of like bias binding?
