So my younger son saw these black glittery Christmas balls at the store and decided that he wanted to make his brother a gothic/emo Christmas tree for his dorm room.  We plan on giving it to him over Thanksgiving break, so he can keep it in his room.  Other than the black balls  all we've come up with is some black plastic chain from the hardware store for garland.  Any other ideas?  How bout for a tree topper?  Thanks for your help.

perhaps black or purple winged angels? or how about some silver and black stars? You can re-use those little plastic toys and decorations left over from Halloween, if you have any... ? My first thought was t-shirt quilt.

My second was applique the embroidered parts onto tote bags--ruffly borders optional! (Thrift/found bags work great--you can applique over existing logos or pics or advertising.)

Pillows? Either stitch shut and stuff, or cut out the good bits and make a pillow cover.

also in the Generation T book she has a cool skirt made out of travel t shirts. you could try that too.

I don't think I have seen a t-shirt quilt, but I like the idea! I have that book, but I packed it up with all my stuff 

I like to travel, though so far its mostly been to theme parks... But I have some great shirts from most of them and from different countries I have gone to. I like embroidered shirts the best...

The thing is, I have tons now, most do not fit me anymore, are getting holes or getting a little too tattered, but the embroidered logos and such are usually still fine. Since I am a pack rat, I still have a great number of them kicking around and my family is not very happy about it. Soon though I will be moving (next year) and they are just creating clutter, but I do not like to throw them away and most are too used to give away....

So, I was hoping someone could help me come up with ideas on what to do with them, hopefully with the way to do the ideas too, and bring these old t-shirts into a new life as something else (I really don't want more t-shirts or clothing though). I have two weeks of freedom coming up and nothing to do too, so I am hoping to do something with them during this time.

Got any ideas?
