1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: July 9 Wedding! Slow start on: January 12, 2011 06:56:14 PM
Yeah, I did it in word.  Just created boxes for the most part.  The two little squiggles are a font I downloaded from dafonts.com.  It is called Nymphette I think.  But it allowed me to do the squiggles easily.  It took a while to find it, I searched everywhere for something, and pictures were just too hard to use.  There are templates out there, but I thought this was just as easy.  I made a big box in word about 2 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide.  Then filled it with a pattern.  I put a box half the height over top of that and made a new pattern.  Then just created a line to cover the seam of the two.  Put a rounded edged rectangle on top of that, and then a text box.  It was fairly easy.  Let me know if you need any help.  It was fun to play around with..

So far the only thing I have finished are the Save the Dates.  They are on yellow paper cut to 4x6 size.  This is just a mock up of how they look...  In reality, the picture in the middle is a magnet.  It sits inside an orange envelope.  The wedding colors are orange, purple, and yellow....  Though it is hard to tell from the picture, it was taken at our wedding venue- a winery...

please excuse the green line... that is word telling me it doesn't like the sentence fragment.  As an English teacher I should be ashamed- but I'm not...  I love the colors.  The yellow paper I used is very close to the mock up color I clicked on in word.  I definitely didn't go traditional in colors.

Here is the water bottle label I created. I kinda like it, but the hubby-to-be loves it, so I guess that matters...
The colors in the larger picture are a little off.  The top is orange, but it looks kinda purple to me in the larger picture.

I wanted to come up with an interesting way to ask my bridesmaids to be in the wedding.  I found a book online: 101 Uses for a Bridesmaid Dress.  I created a little bookmark and put that inside of it.  I wrapped it up in pretty paper and gave it them.

I want to make the jewelry for the bridesmaids as part of their gift, and here is the bracelet I came up with:

I have been working on the votive candles for the centerpieces, and with the help of one of my bridesmaids, this is what we came up with:
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Vulva book *warning: this post contains pictures of realistic looking vulva!* on: October 30, 2010 07:39:09 PM
i think these are great!  i have a vulva made out of chocolate which was given to me as a gift by the director when i acted in The Vagina Monologues.  I wish I'd been able to give a gift like this to her...   What did you make them out of?  I have never seen a substance that would let you manipulate it like that after  you sculpted it.....

We did decide to do just one votive, but we are going to stick with multiple bottles because our tables are actually really big and we are not going to have place settings arranged on the tables.

The lamps are wine glasses.  Not sure if we are doing votive candles or led lights.  We are allowed the votive candles....

I am toying with what size tapers to put in the bottles.  We can get 10 or 6 inch tapers, and I am thinking that 10 inch tapers would be the best thing... that 6 inch tapers would look too short....

I'll try to get a better shot of them.. my future MIL took them as we were starting to put the stuff back up, so it is a little haphazzardly thrown together...

I actually plan on making the table numbers look like labels and putting those on the bottles..  Smiley

I am getting married on July 9, 2011 at a winery.  I've been working on ideas for my centerpieces which don't involve flowers.  So far, this is what I've come up with.  The labels will be removed from the bottles, and the little votive candles will have purple glitter on them.  The able clothes will either be orange or yellow.  We haven't decided yet.  The colors for the wedding are yellow, orange, and purple...

there will be two votives on each of the four sides of the centerpiece...  they aren't all there in the pictures...

Did you print them on a home computer?  The picture looks so great!

I love the look of this... but I am a little OCD and afraid to start trying to make them without asking a question or two...  About how many petals do you use of each size?  What sizes do you use?  Did you just freehand the petals.  They are a great shape!  Thanks!

I like the layout of the third card most, but the picture from the first card... :-) That picture is just stunning!
10  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Halloween Cookies *now with tips and links to get you started* on: October 12, 2009 06:39:34 PM
I am amazed by these cookies....  I just tried to make some cookies not too long ago, but they didn't turn out at all like yours!!! I made some bears, but I had some issues with the icing. I am going to try your icing and see how that works.  I just had a quick question: what size tips did you use for these cookies if you don't mind my asking... your lines are very fine, and mine weren't nearly that size..   I am still just in awe
