1  Kitty-O-Lantern Kitten Costume in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: January 05, 2011 05:08:08 PM
For Halloween, I made out kitten a costume! It is just a couple pieces of felt and some velcro, for easy on and off.

Here is what is looks like flat:

Gus is such a champ, he even posed outside for pictures!

He wore a sweater for Christmas, but I did not make it. I think he might need a little cupid outfit for Valentine's Day though!

2  My Attempt At The Slit Throat Choker! in Crochet: Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: September 13, 2010 08:53:11 AM
Thanks so much to arrmatie for the great tutorial!
You can find the pattern here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=60207.0
I used a G hook, since that is the smallest I have.
The choker came together very quickly, and the diagram did help when I was having trouble visualizing!
Thank you for taking the time to share!

3  Cardboard Boxes to Scratching Pad and Kitty Bed in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: September 13, 2010 08:18:42 AM
We had tons of cardboard piling up, so put it to use making things for our kitty, Burton Guster (otherwise known as Gus, or Chocolate Einstein...)
So, he got a padded bed, from a box, tons of scraps of batting/stuffing, and an old pillowcase.
My husband cut a bunch of cardboard into strips and made a scratching pad, (he just shoved all the strips into a box top) like the ones we had seen in Petsmart. Amazingly, our kitty, who has never really scratched anything, went right to it and began to claw. It is still the only thing he claws on, so apparently, it works!

4  Frida Finger Puppet in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: September 13, 2010 07:18:52 AM
So, I am pretty sure I will never sew anything this small again! I have no patience for things in miniature!
I made this for my husband's art history professor, who recently lost a Frida. (I am not sure what her store bought one looked like, but I am pretty dang proud of mine!)
This was a good way to use up scraps of material and yarn. I did end up painting the face though, after a couple failed attempts at stitching!
Anyway, here she is!

5  Take A Look At Banner! in Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: May 14, 2009 10:33:02 AM
So, not really sure where to put this... a birthday decoration that I don't think we will take down and is made out paper bags and markers...

6  SVUndies in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by skankin kiwi on: April 14, 2009 02:04:44 PM
After seeing this post by urka http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=289963.0
I decided my sister needed some undies with those beautiful faces of our favorite Law and Order for her birthday.  (We kind of have an obsession.  She even wrote a song called "SVU Junkie"!)

I found the pictures, made them black and white (in Word, even, that is the extent of my computer skills!) Then had my husband screen print.  (He is an art grad and has easy access to photo emulsion stuffs.) So, most of the credit (ok, maybe all?) goes to him!

Thanks for the inspiration urka!

7  Rainbow Bundt! in Dessert by skankin kiwi on: April 14, 2009 12:46:23 PM
So, I was incredibly inspired and intrigued by everyone's rainbow cakes, so I had to make my own!
I followed these instructions: http://www.omnomicon.com/rainbowcake
which were exceptionally helpful, especially since I made this the day before Easter and had already boiled all the eggs in my house!  I used a French Vanilla cake mix and a can and a half of diet cherry 7-Up.  I also just used regular liquid dyed and did some elementary mixing to get the colors I wanted!
Then, just layered it in the bundt cake and it turned out magical!!!  We served it on frosting "clouds". (My husbands idea.)
Thanks all for the inspiration!

Even the crumbs are pretty!

8  Patchwork St. Patrick's Day Skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by skankin kiwi on: March 16, 2009 02:12:32 PM
I whipped this up fairly quickly (well, as quickly as you can sew tons of squares together!) to wear to a St. Patrick's Day dinner/party this weekend.
I am actually really happy with it, which is good because I was actually finishing it in the car on the way to the party and hoping it would look decent on me!

9  First time crocheters' blanket! in Crochet: Completed Projects by skankin kiwi on: March 16, 2009 01:55:16 PM
I teach a Home Economics class at a private school.  (When they hired me to teach Spanish, they also said I would be teaching Home Ec.  Lucky for them, I know how to do some stuff!)
Anyway, 11 high school students who just learned how to crochet made this lap blanket to donate to Project Linus.  Each student made at least three squares and helped to piece it together.  They dubbed it their "Hobo Blanket" since it is all patchy!  I am pretty proud of them and just wanted to share!

10  Plastic Canvas Cactus Coasters in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by skankin kiwi on: March 16, 2009 01:48:40 PM
Yarn and plastic canvas backed with cork.  The hardest part was getting it to look cactus-y!
(Please excuse the wet mark.  Had to lift up my drink to take a picture!)
