2  Re: Grandma's slippers: the legacy continues in Knitting: Completed Projects by Marykz on: April 02, 2007 11:49:05 AM
These are the slippers my Grandma used to make for everyone in the family, every Christmas and sometimes birthdays, too.  snip
They are cuter on feet than flat, though:

Love these- here's my version in Patons SWS.  one finished, one still at the sewing phase.  I'm going to make a bunch more!

3  Capelets for girl and doll in Knitting: Completed Projects by Marykz on: March 16, 2007 05:26:01 PM
hi all- my obsession with the Anthropogie-inspired capelet continues.

I made this one for my daughter to go with her easter dress.  I had a good bit of yarn left over, so I decided to make one for her American Girl Doll.  I recklessly abused Julesy_123's patterns for these...  Yarn: Plymouth Encore (a worsted weight), total about 200 yarns.  Trim for doll- Lion Brand Microspun.  Needles for girl: sz 10.  for doll, 6.

Now that I think about it, these two cost me less than $10 too- the encore was 5.78 including tax, and the purple microspun was scrap from another project.  (maybe 3.50/ skein at michaels?)  March Challenge here I come..... ha ha.

these were really fun. thanks for looking!

4  Re: From ugly shirt to memorable pillow! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Marykz on: March 09, 2007 07:44:50 AM
great idea!  I just made a (lumpy) pillow for my daughter out of 2 of her favorite shirts she outgrew.  I made it two sided- one for each T-shirt.  now she wants lots of "favorite" pillows...

other side

the pink ribbon was for gifting purposes, and has come off...

5  Re: Dish towel apron in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Marykz on: March 09, 2007 07:35:57 AM
this is such a fun project- (ok, and a really old thread) I made coordinating aprons for my daughter and I out of a pack of Martha Stewart Everyday aprons in the Sail Away colors.  (4 dish cloths all in different patterns: stripes, plaid; in coordinating colors.)  I used 2.5 cloths for mine, and 1 cloth plus twill tape, and a bit of scrap from the other .5 cloth for the girl's.

I didn't use MS's pattern, I followed pictures from Angry Chicken's Tie one on challenge from September.

6  Re: Rowan Polar substitute/Cover my tattoos PLEASE. in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Marykz on: March 07, 2007 06:50:34 AM
I made one of Julsey's in a patagonia cotton that was thick n thin and it turned out great.  I didn't even have to change gauge.  I think it was $10 or $11/ skein, but I only needed 2 skeins.  when you add the button or pin closure, it covers up the cleavage nicely... (not that I have any- but you get the idea...) Wink

the daughter's is in debbie bliss cashmerino aran, on smaller needles. (she wouldn't wait for me to block it.  I'm blocking it now)

found the yarn label: Patagonia nature cotton by Araucania in color 215 made in Chile. HTH! Marykz

7  sewing needle case in Completed Projects by Marykz on: March 05, 2007 04:09:41 PM
do I belong here?  anyways, it is a sewn object, for sewing stuff.... I saw this adorable Russian Doll fabric online.  Bought it.  Found this great fabric at CC (Calico Corners) and could only get a sample.  (yellow and dotty)  but it was 75% off!  (new fancy design/ orders only store) I ordered two yards to make a pillow.  So, I took the sample home and happened to toss it on top of the doll fabric in the stash.  Yea!  But I only had the bitty sample for now- I'm so impatient- so I made this little sewing needle case.  Felt inside pages.  Thanks for looking, I had fun making it!  Marykz

8  Re: Interweave Intimates... in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Marykz on: March 05, 2007 11:12:37 AM
Here's my progress on the camisole thru the endless stockinette... I didn't measure today but I think about 6 1/2 inches through on the way to 11.  (this goes to 11- ha!)
I'm using Royal Bamboo in a pretty tan, pink, yello, cream mix.  it is kinda hard to see in the picture.  My camera was being cranky.  Half the pictures too dark, others overexposed... (sigh)

time to join a new ball..... Marykz
