My group and I from my college Culinary class entered this cake for a "food as art" competition for a local food festival. We didn't place- we were going up against head pastry chefs and bakers and there was some pretty amazing stuff.
But none of us had ever worked with fondant before and we're all really proud of it. I let them handle the baking of the cakes and everything, but I pretty much studied up on how to work with fondant. I think next time I'll try making it myself instead of using the store bought fondant because it really doesn't taste that great.
The stars are little molded chocolates.

I think I'm going to really start baking- I thoroghly enjoyed it.
