1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: knitting boyfriend on: May 28, 2007 11:32:45 AM
My boyfriend has already started knitting.  I would start them on a scarf with stripes or a hat.

I was at the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival and there was a booth that had Buffalo yarn and yarn made from sled dogs' hair.  It was very soft, but it was very expensive (think Tilli Thomas expensive).  I bet it would be really warm.

I have one.

Ballerina, Bubblegum are very close.

Red Pepper is a lot brighter and way more bright red than in the catalog.

Fired Brick is a much richer color than in the catalog.

Bordeaux is a little more purple color.

Wisteria is pretty to very close.

Dark navy is not as dark as in the picture but is a very nice navy blue.

Deep Ocean is not as dark as in the catalog either.

Capri and Baby Blue are very close.

Jade is very close,  maybe a little lighter than in the picture.

Dublin is close, but is very nice.  If  you want to see it worked up, check out my blog.  I am currently using it for a blanket.

Aloe is very close.

Sunshine is not as bright, it's a more subtle color.

Sand Dune is very close.

Light Coral is also very close.

Copper is not as reddish as the catalog shows.  It's much more medium brown.

Truffle does not look as dark as the catalog shows.

Coast Grey and Black are very close.

I'm 26 and I blog.  Not sure if I posted in here before.  I'm pretty new to knitting and blogging.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: how do you let a muggle down nicely when they ask you to knit something? on: May 06, 2007 02:47:15 PM
I say no.

I was knitting a sweater (Tempting from Knitty) on the T in Boston the other day and this big loud worker type guy sits next to me.  The first thing this guy says is "when are you going to knit me some socks."  My reply  was a simple "never." Nevertheless he felt the need to keep asking me things about my knitting and I wanted to ask him whether this sweater looked like a m-f sock?

He was so annoying and didn't seem to get from my frosty one word replies in the engative to everything he said that I wanted nothing to do with strangers who demand socks from me on the T.

Shine Sport is wonderful to work with.
I made a tanktop with it not too long ago.  It knitis up so softly.  I think I need to make this cardigan but probably with some different colors.  The pale tan color is just not my thing.

I just knit this...

http://magknits.com/July06/ballet.htm

There is one mistake in the 38 size, which I made.

It's when you get to here:

Upper front
Replace sts on needle. With WS facing, join yarn and p 1 row. Dec 1 st at each end of next row and every foll RS row 1 (2, 2, 3, 4, 4) times more--74 (76, 81, 83, 86, 88) sts rem.

Next RS row: k1, dec, k until there are 21 (21, 27, 27, 29, 29) sts on RH ndl, join second ball of yarn, bind off center 30 (32, 25, 27, 26, 28) sts, k to last 3 sts, dec, k1.

You should have 27 stitches for each side, so 54 total, and therefore should bind off (81-54)=27 stitches in the center, not 25.

I just started this tank top: http://magknits.com/July06/ballet.htm in the same yarn but a different color.  I picked this lovely color called Hydrangea which is a beautiful light purple.  There are pcitures of my minimal progress on my blog.  http://nenewbieknitter.blogspot.com/
