1  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Sunner ruffled kimono-style dress on: July 12, 2007 11:05:53 AM
This is adorable! Has anyone seen any similar patterns I could try to doctor? I'd love to try and make something like this, but with a slightly longer skirt ... be sure to check out the other views. The back is cute, too!

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Kenmore Mini Ultra--Problem? on: February 12, 2007 09:42:28 AM
I have one, too, and love it! I've noticed the bobbin is touchy, but I haven't purchased any particular kind -- I have noticed I have less problems with my old metal bobbins from my last machine than I do with the lighter plastic ones, if that helps anyone!

I have yet to try it on heavy fabric, and I'm happy to hear that people find it works OK. I've been wanting to work on Amy Butler's Weekender Bag, but I know in some places you've got to sew through 6 layers!  Shocked

So happy to hear of everyone's love for this little machine. I got mine (the blue one) at Sears, too, for a total steal!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Movie Knits on: February 06, 2007 08:59:58 AM
Yes! Brainylady blogged about the movie and mentioned the Serrano from Knitty, and I loved the photos so much that I bought 13 skeins of Elan's Baby Silk in Aubergine to make one!

This is such a great thread ...  Wink

I don't think this one has been mentioned: has anyone seen the Pedro Almodovar film Volver? There are some amazing sweaters in that film. I feel like I have to go see it again because it was too hard to read subtitles and scope out sweater patterns at the same time! If I can find pics I'll post links.

Okay, so here's one of Penelope Cruz's lace-patterned green sweater--gorgeous!:
And here's a really cute red lace pattern (warning: she's holding a bloody knife in this pic): http://outnow.ch/Movies/2006/Volver/img/movie.fs/10?w=1400&h=928

This one is similar to the red cardi: http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall06/PATTserrano.html. It's not exact, but similar.
