21  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Acid Trip Hat on: January 31, 2008 12:28:36 AM
So there's nothing really special about this hat stitch or composition wise. It's really plain and boring. But the colors are trippy. They remind me of the colors they use on TV when they're mimicing someone on an acid trip.
This is a hat I made for a friend. She brings me yarn, I make her stuff out of it. I have no idea where this yarn came from, what the brand is, all I know is that it's trippy colored worsted weight acrylic.

I'm modeling it because I just finished it about 5 minutes ago and I won't see her again until tomorrow.

That's awesome! I like the yarn. What yarn did you use?
23  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: I Only LOOK Like a Sl*t Halter Top on: January 29, 2008 12:18:35 PM
i like it, but i think is a little revealing  Embarrassed
That's very true. Which is why I'm going to make a less revealing version for more every day wear. This is more along the lines of wearing over a bikini top at the beach in summer. And if I do a tute, it'll be aimed at building a unique top that's similar to this, so you can use your own stitch that's less revealing over the stomach.
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: wrist warmers knit on color pencils :) on: January 29, 2008 12:52:14 AM
That is unbelievably cool. And the wristwarmers turned out cool, so they must've worked well.
And had awesome guage.
I'd be worried about the pencils breaking though. But that's just me.
25  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Oh baby, crocheted lace is tricky! on: January 29, 2008 12:22:10 AM
That's beautiful! And even though the lighting isn't great, the colorscheme seems to work well.

Oh, and don't worry about all the talent, if you're stuff is usually half as good as this then you're well in-line with the rest of the talent here!

Wow. I'm surprised at the response. I did this top kind of off the top of my head, but I'm making a similar one for a friend soon, so I'll try to take pics and set up a tut for it.

And thanks for the compliments on my tattoo. I love my dragon.

I cut the bottom of my feet with the toe nails from the opposite foot all the time. I'll be sitting somewhere and be barefoot and swinging my feet back and forth, and all of the sudden my foot is stinging and bleeding. Not fun.

I've thought about it. But I'm pretty much positive that it's acrylic. I got the yarn from my mom's boss' mom, and I unraveled it from a scarf or two and so I don't know any details about the yarn.
But seeing as I'm almost positive that it's acrylic, I don't think it'll do any good.
29  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I Only LOOK Like a Sl*t Halter Top on: January 28, 2008 01:29:42 AM
This is my first big crochet project in a long time. And it's also the first wearable that isn't a scarf/hat/socks/gloves. I'm proud of myself!
Especially because I made it in less than 24 hours total. And less than 12 hours actual work. The only thing I don't like about it is the color, I call it 80's orange. I got it for free, and it was the only thing on hand that I had in bulk, so I used it, but I'd rather have a used a dark red. Or a purple.
Anyway, Here it is.

These were the best pics I could get by myself of the whole thing.
30  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: My first crocheted thing (a hat) on: January 27, 2008 05:38:11 PM
Thats cool! Definitely love the colors.
And the instant gratification thing is right. I'm working on a top right now that I started 17 1/2 hours ago. I've slept for 9 hours, eaten, the whole bit and I'm still well over half way done. If I tried to knit this it would take me weeks!
And it is a bit addicting, isn't it?
