1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Vintage tapestry/modern laptop tote on: July 06, 2008 06:21:44 PM
I'm so proud of myself! I just sold my very first bag on Etsy!  I was freecycled some vintage tapestry fabric and came up with the perfect laptop bag!

Thanks to Cecilia in Sweden!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Poor baby! on: June 01, 2008 08:13:19 AM
I wasn't entirely sure if I should put this here or in miscellaneous, but I figured the poor dear deserved the best, so here goes! Until recently I was working in an autoparts manufacturing plant and last summer, found in a box of plastic bins, was the perfectly preserved body of a butterfly Cry. I did not kill it myself, I swear! Well, I managed to save it and get it home. A trip to the dollar store for a small shadow box and some scrapbooking paper for the background and VOILA!

He watches over me while I cook!

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Floating beads on: May 31, 2008 11:50:06 AM
I was so proud of myself when I got this to work! The beads are actually super glued to the wire to keep them from sliding, and now they look like they're floating on the wire.

My eldest daughter's neck was co-opted for these photos Cheesy

And modeled by my soon-to-be-repaired window sill.
I also have a set that I put together in blue beads. My favourite is the necklace, and the swirly over the disc.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Chip off the old pincushion on: May 28, 2008 04:38:53 AM
I absolutely HAD to show these off. My eldest daughter, within the last couple of months, has co-opted all of my jewelry making supplies and is already coming up with much better stuff than me (not that hard really. I never liked my stuff).

These are a bracelet and earring combo. She seems to favor shorter dangle style. Likes to feel them move but not too heavy.

Similar style in blue.

And my personal favourites of the ones that she gave me pictures of. I'm thinking maybe I'll teach her resin casting.  Grin.

And the girl herself!

Thanks!
Leanne

OOOPS! Just realized I stuck this in the wrong section! It should probably be in beads. Sorry!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A couple more bags from my freecycle stuff on: May 08, 2008 04:39:04 PM
I just can't seem to stop making bags, but I've gotta tell ya, it's addictive! I especially like the Pleatness bag. Here's my summer version.

I always think of red and white as so summery (my Canadian roots are showing Grin).

Although not the best picture, you can see that I used the same fabric for the interior as I did for the pleated front. This bag has a zippered top and a large interior pocket.

My second bag is a smaller, flap covered purse with a removable strap.

The photo makes it look a little wonky, but really it's not. I used iron-on patches to decorate the front.

The interior is white with small yellow and orange flowers. It has a zippered pocket and non-zippered pocket just big enough for a cell phone. The somewhat legible label says Hole In The Wall, my name on etsy.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / pleatness with freebies! on: May 04, 2008 07:26:58 AM
Recently I was gifted a garbage bag filled with fabric through freecycle, and I knew that one of the many things I had to make was the pleatness bag.
I decided not to add the zipper top, now I'm wondering if that was a mistake. But the button just seemed to go so well, I figured what the heck?

I used another tute from this site(can't remember where it is though. Sorry) to create the inside pockets. I'm big on zippers because my stuff tends to fall out all over the place otherwise.

Thanks for looking and comments are more than welcome!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / reconned t-shirt to hoodie on: May 04, 2008 05:37:52 AM
I've tried the tute found on this site (thank you by the way) so many times but hated the results. But I'm stubborn (pigheaded Grin) and just kept trying. I think I've finally made one that works for me. It's way too big for my daughter, on the other hand, who's modelling for me
The hood shoulp sit like this
But I made it a bit too big
My husband says I look like a multi-coloured clansman. I hit him VERY hard for that one. I love my hoodie! It's roomy, colourful, and the faeries are sooo pretty!
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / More poppets on: April 18, 2008 03:12:27 AM
I tried my hand once more at ghillie's poppet pattern. At least this time I had enough eyeballs to go around Cheesy This is Pinky. Herskin stretched while stuffing so she's actually taller than originally envisioned. On the other hand, she's squishy and good for sleeping with. This is Cloe. She's actually pretty shy. I made her a sleeveless dress, but she refuses to let me take off her blouse and fights me on getting the sleeves off.

And this is Jean-marie, the purple french kitty. I keep picturing her leaning up against a lamp post in Paris smoking a cigarette (how un-p.c. of me) When she first got her hair, I thought they were dreadlocks, but she doesn't seem to like the rastafarian look and tells me she's just naturally curly like that Cheesy
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Painted pitcher present on: April 18, 2008 03:05:54 AM
I just wanted to share my birthday gift from my mom. I LOVE it Grin[/img] Isn't she the greatest?
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sam the "Scary" Mouse on: March 07, 2008 10:05:58 AM
This is my interpretation of ghillie's poppet pattern. My bag of animal eyes disappeared and I could only find one (which is why he wears an eye patch Grin)
I really hope my photos work!!!!!

He's pictured here on my daughter's bed although my husband has actually claimed him as his own. More phots will be orthcoming with a fixed eye patch and pirate clothes!
