1  Re: Help needed with ribbon stripe on bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by JuliaAnn on: July 14, 2007 06:58:59 PM
I've made quite a few bags with a ribbon stripe like that and I have done exactly what you said...sew the bottom to the top and then put your ribbon over the seam and top stitch along the top and bottom edges of the ribbon.  I usually measure down from the top of the bag as I'm pinning on the ribbon to make sure I get it straight.  Here is one that I have made like that:

Good luck.

2  Wallet in a Wristlet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: July 03, 2007 07:18:23 PM
Hi guys.  I've been experimenting with wristlets lately and came up with this.  A partial wallet attached to the lining.  That way you don't have to put a wallet in the wristlet so it won't weigh it down, and you don't have to have things loose either.  There is a money pocket and four card slots.  Whatcha think??

3  Cherry Blossoms and White Curly Q's in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: June 22, 2007 12:59:03 PM
Hi all.  Haven't been here in it seems like forever...I think I'm going through withdrawal, LOL.  I swear the end of the school year with my son has been busier than the whole year.  Anyway, I made these two today.  I think my favorite one is the cherries bag.  Here they are.

4  Found a new fabric store in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: June 07, 2007 06:43:47 PM
I found a new fabric store near me (almost an hour away) and they have all of the beautiful designer fabric that I've only seen on the internet.  Let's just say it's a good thing they are an hour away or I'd be broke.  I couldn't take as much time as I wanted to look around because I had my 2 year old with me, but I plan on going back solo.  I was on a fabric high when I got home.  Anyway, here are a few bags I made with some fabric I got there.

5  Black and White Damask in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: June 02, 2007 12:57:35 PM
Hi everyone.  I have seen so many bags here done in the damask fabric and loved them so much I decided to make one too.  It's another divider bag and I just love how classic black and white are.

Here it is...

6  Red with Jumbo White Polka-Dots in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: May 29, 2007 12:07:20 PM
Hi guys.  I just finished this one.  I love polka-dots and red and white are always great summer colors.  I found these rectangle rings on clearance at Walmart, so I bought a bunch of them.  The lining is red with tiny white dots so I thought that would go well with the outside.

8  John Deere Pink?? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: May 21, 2007 01:20:33 PM
Here is a new divider bag that I just finished.  I think this John Deere fabric in pink is too cute.  There are a total of six pockets around the lining and the zippered divider pocket through the middle.  I have put in the fabric covered elastic for a water bottle or baby bottle and have a key holder hanging in from the top too.  Here it is...

9  Sweet roses in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: May 13, 2007 05:06:14 PM
Here is another one from the same Vogue pattern I used for the tulips bag only in a very feminine floral.  I did add a little to the bag different from the pattern.  I added the full row of pockets instead of just the square one it called for and I also topstitched everything which the pattern did not call for.

10  Tip-toe through the tulips in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by JuliaAnn on: May 13, 2007 11:19:21 AM
Found this fabric and thought it would make a nice summery bag.  I love tulips and really liked the color too.  I tried this new style from a pattern and it was my first time with the rings.  Here it is...

The inside is a matching hot pink and I put a row of pockets across one side.  It closes with magnetic snap.
