15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Re: Distorted appliques on: January 04, 2014 07:51:33 PM
Be sure you are not stretching the fabric when you are hooping it. Also, a BIG help is to use Wonder Under, under the applique fabric. This will make all the difference. Here is a helpful article.

16  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question on making bath fizzy things on: January 04, 2014 07:45:30 PM
You should try making bubble bars. They are so much easier.  Smiley
17  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Lotion recipe hunt on: January 04, 2014 07:43:50 PM
Krissy.me, I told her the same exact information back in May but she never replied back to me. Sometimes people have a hard time believing they can become instant lotion makers without testing and being careful with the products being made. Being careful with products given to Cancer patients is extremely important.

19  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Happiness is a Unicorn Costume on: November 01, 2013 02:22:30 PM
My daughter and I were in Hobby Lobby one day when we saw his amazing unicorn costume worn by a teenager. My daughter wanted a costume just like it so of course she turns to me to make her one. lol  I had my doubts that I could do something so awesome but I gave it a go. I searched for patterns everywhere online but could not find any tutes on making a unicorn head piece. So, I made it up myself just by looking at a few other head pieces online.

I don't have any in between photos of the making of the hat as I was in a rush to get it made in time for Halloween. I was stitching until minutes before her party.

All I did was cut out a hat piece out of fleece and fur. Sewed them together. I made a horn out of silky fabric and stuffed and used thread to make the lines/indention around it.

I took 7 feather boas and braded them and hand stitched them to the hat.  I cut out ears and stuffed them and hand stitched them to the hat too.

I made the fur legwarmers and attached them to an exisiting white pair my daughter had so I didn't have to add elastic and just hand stitched them on. (remember, I was running out of time. ) Wink  Then, she wanted cuffs so we just cut out a couple pieces and I stitched them up.

The tail was the leftover part of the mane and I just used a hair band to hold it together and then used a carbomer to attatch to her shorts.

That's it, nothing special but it truly was a challange and I had fun making it and my daughter loves it so much. She will wear it when she goes places, not just for Halloween.

20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Boot Candy Cuffs For the Sister! on: September 12, 2013 10:27:21 PM
These are adorable! I absolutely love that you used some of your Grandmother's yarn.  I use my Grandma's buttons in my crafts and it adds a special something to the gift  Smiley

domestikatie - it is so fitting that I should see a comment on this post today mentioning my Grandma - she actually passed away just yesterday and seeing your comment actually warms my heart. Grandma's are the best aren't they? They give so much Smiley. I bet your Grandma's buttons are the finishing touch for your projects Smiley. ♥ it. Thank you so much for sharing Smiley

I'm sorry about your grandma. I'm glad you have some trinkets to to remind you of her.

Thank you for sharing this pattern, I bought it and hope to knit a pair of them up for my sister too.
