I spent all summer embroidering a chuppah (wedding canopy) that I was commissioned to make. It is about 5ft x 6ft and I embroidered the border about 8 inches deep.  The design is based of the couple's invitations.  I had never done anything this large before and didn't have a whole lot of time to do it, but I did finish!  It was pretty intense near the end though, I spent an entire weekend doing nothing else and my hands started to cramp up...actually they still kind of hurt.  Is it lame to have an embroidering injury....??

they were cloth place mats, hand embroidered, and the bumpy material was surprisingly easy to deal with...not much different than other material i thought...

thanks again, everybody...the coat is made from cotton- its pretty lightweight and I embroidered with 1-3 strands of thread...less for smaller facial features and more for other parts...

The people are copied from all sorts of things- album covers (ex. gram parsons), book covers (that's sister carrie at the bottom, Oedipa Maas is on there, although not clearly in the picture) and images a found in newspapers/magazines.  Also some are copied from photos of my friends/family.  There is also a werewolf and an elephant.  I think of it as a psychedelic dance party...
