11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Where is Knitpicks "Logout" button?! on: April 26, 2007 12:26:53 PM
Disclaimer:  Ok, I'm having an idiot moment.  I'm not usually so "slow".

I'm at work and have been putting things into my knitpicks "stash" to see how much my order would come up to, but now I want to log out of my account and can't find the friggin' button!  It's got to be there somewhere.... Directions!  Help!!

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / KnitPicks Shipping to Canada? Costs? on: April 19, 2007 10:05:31 AM
Hi!

I'd like to order Knitpicks options needle set but am concerned about the import duties and taxes.  Has anyone else in BC ordered the set?  How much did it set you back in total?

I'm thinking that if it's just too expensive I"ll have it shipped to someone in the states, and have them mail it to me or something.  But i don't want to wait for the set!!

Thanks!
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What do addi turbos look like? on: April 13, 2007 12:26:48 PM
Hey all!

Strange question, maybe, but I don't think I've ever seen addi turbos in person, only in pics on the internet which are generally blurry and not so good.  But I've recently bought two pairs of mystery needles at the local thrift store and I love them.  They are so smooth and lovely to work with, so I'd like to get more.  Any tips on telling whether or not these are the mystical addi turbos??   Are there any tell-tale marks or such?

Thanks!
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knit Duck Hunt/Fishing Hat for baby boy? on: April 04, 2007 10:13:18 AM
Hey all!

I'm hoping someone knows where a pattern for a particular baby hat is.  I seem to think it was a free pattern online, or maybe out of the stitch'n'bitch book, but I'm not sure.  It is a brown baby hat with a brim, I think, and a pocket on the side which has a little 3D knit duck which tucks into it.  I think the duck is a little knit mallard.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?  I'm trying to find this pattern for a friend, and would appreciate some help!

Thx!
15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Japanese bead book with pattern for Beauty and the Beast teapot and tea cup? on: March 30, 2007 11:42:58 AM
Hey there!

I've been fruitlessly searching the internet for a Japanese beading book which has a pattern in it (among other Disney characters) for the little teapot and teacup from Beauty and the Beast, made out of swarovski crystals.  I did see a picture of this pattern online months ago so I know it exists!  Does anyone know what book I'm talking about or where I could find a copy for sale?

Pretty please?
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Purse Handles? Where to buy? on: March 26, 2007 04:46:46 PM
Does anyone have any ideas about a good resource either online or in British Columbia (around Victoria or lower mainland area) to buy purse handles, preferably leather ones?  I'd like to make the Brea purse from Berroco, but can't find anything but a couple of tacky plastic purse handles at Michael's.

Help!  Please!
17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Stealthy Crafting at work--what do you do? on: March 14, 2007 11:39:53 AM
Ok, so I'm looking for some stealthy crafting ideas to keep me busy at work during the down time (of which there is plenty) which aren't too obvious or which don't require too many materials etc that I would need to hide quickly!

I sometimes bring small knitting projects, but am looking for some variety.

Any ideas?
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What's up with Noro Yarn addicts/crazies? on: March 12, 2007 10:16:50 AM
Ok, I think I may be missing something.

I'm always running across posts extolling the glories of Noro yarn but recently came across a ball of the apparently mystical stuff in a store, and thought that it was.... sorta rough and scratchy?  And stiff?  Admittedly it has some lovely colour variations, but is it really all that great considering it feels (to me, at least) much like those little abrasive pads you clean your dishes with?

Please enlighten me!  I'm obviously missing something....
19  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Ideas for gift box sealant? on: March 09, 2007 02:34:26 PM
I'd like to decorate a plain white jewelery giftbox (the cardboard ones that come with a jewelery purchse) with some sort of paper collage on the lid, but I'm not sure what to seal it with so that it is smooth and the little paper bits don't lift.  Any ideas?  Or any ideas if I do the same but with a metal tin?  I don't have any supplies except alene's glue at this point.

Thanks!

C&*^ I posted in the wrong forum.  What to do?
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Soft White Cabled Scarf with Pompoms on: March 09, 2007 12:07:04 AM
My sister requested a scarf last christmas but with specs.  Specs, for heaven's sake!  As if simply a scarf wasn't enough.  It had to be:  cabled, white, soft, washable, and long.  Very long.  Or maybe just seemed long because of the cables. Smiley  Sheesh already!  So here's what I came up with:

A close up:

I didn't block it before taking the picture, so the edges aren't laying flat.  But because she insisted that I make it out of acrylic (lionsbrand microspun, I seem to recall) it doesn't block as well as natural fibre (ie not much at all).  Anyone have any tips for working with acrylic and not having the sides roll?  I did do a garter trim on it, but perhaps it wasn't wide enough?  Thoughts?
