21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I pick bottlecaps off the side of the road on: June 20, 2007 10:27:22 AM

These are my bottle cap pushpins, most are from caps I found on my walk from train to home. Also there are the pushpins made from squares of wood I got from the woodshop at school. I had leftover wood so I cut it down and glued things like stones on and bits of mirror, and so forth. sorry it's not a great pic. They are in my mom's car right now, so I can't take a new one.

22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / amputee jellyfish shirt on: June 05, 2007 11:01:09 AM
So one night my friend and I were in the printmaking studio until 9pm and I really liked this one stencil she was using so she let me print it on one of my shirts. She used a picture of mushrooms she had taken then traced over it to make a pattern. They look like amputee jellyfish to me.

I redid the neckline, reattached the sleeves and added ribbon in it to tie. Also slimmed it a bit to fit my waist.Might do something else to it, but maybe not.  Grin

23  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / First attempt at earrings. I was given three boxes of beads. on: March 16, 2007 06:07:27 PM
Alright. My friend came into our printmaking class the other day with a Trader Joe's bag for me. It had two of those flattish plastic boxes  FULL of glass beads(the little seed kind). It also contained a big tupperware type box with a bag of more glass beads that were larger, and also had hippie beads in it. You know those big ones that are crazy looking that she used to put in her dreadlocks in high school. So she had had these beads for ten years and finally decided to let go.

So, I bought hooks and voila! I also need to get clip ons made because a professor at school was interested.

24  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Many a recon from the depths of my closet. Lots o' links to pics. on: March 03, 2007 07:35:47 PM
These are slightly older than the items on my previous post and as such are cruder in the quality sense. Oh and sorry for the lighting. My room is dim and I actually have two lamps turned on at that time.

First up: skirt that found at the thrift shop. Meant to be a wraparound skirt for someone much thinner than I. I simply sewed straight down to make it a non-wrap and left the ties and added a snap.

Belly shot! So you can see the tie and the snap area.

Close up of material.

Second! Halter top made from a 1990's denim jumper belonging to my mom. I'm sure it looked good back then, but then is not now, now is now. It's rough. The seams show and are awkward in places, but it's still great because I left on the great honking pockets in front, which are fantastic for sticking pencils in. The ideal shirt for drawing class. While I do not like to show my upper arms, this is still cool.

And a close up of the pink material.

Third! Corduroy shorts. Blue-ish green. Used to be pants that were too short and just awful all around, but as shorts they rock. I haven't worn shorts for years.

Fourth!
Skirt! Zippers! Blue drapery! Old bondage pants! Woot! Yes. They were those things and now they are not. Seams are coming apart. Will be fixed. Etc.

fifth!
Used to be my mom's plaid robe thingy. She attempted to toss it. I cut the bottom off and now it is a sweet wrap around shirt. Edges are undone. Dunno. Might have to hem that. Nice pockets. Little london calling clash pin on there.

That is all.
25  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Gamer shirt on: March 03, 2007 02:28:54 PM
I have a screenprinting class at school and my brothers needed a gift for a friend's 18th birthday so being the kind generous sister that I am I printed this for them. It is my first screenprinted tshirt. Woot. The playstation control symbols aren't perfect, but you know what? It was my first shot. muahaha.

26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / a few recons on: March 03, 2007 11:47:06 AM

This was a blue thin sweatshirt that once was my mom's but the sleeve got stuck on a nail on the door when I wore it then I got stuck on a nail in my friend's basement so she let me keep it, bu tI digress. Anywho. I took the sleeves off and attached the sleeves from a shirt that was too short for me.

I bought a shirt that had too tight sleeves so I put the blue sleeves from previous project on it and a hood from another thin sweatshirt. I don't ever wear this cause I realized it makes me look weird. So, yea. Maybe I'll give it away or sell it when flea market time arrives.

These are both handsewn. So, as soon as spring break is over I'm going to use the sewing machine at school to make them stronger.
