1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Spring Knitty 08 on: March 12, 2008 10:32:17 AM
I like Talia a lot.  I always liked Sweater babe's designs but sizing was way too big for me.  However with this pattern I think I can finally make something from the designer!!:)
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How many of you are allergic to wool? on: December 07, 2007 07:48:47 PM
Mohair does it for me.  Otherwise I am not so terribly allergic.  Love Merino wool though.

4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Drops 103-1 Jacket knitalong on: December 06, 2007 01:49:09 PM
Hey.  I started this jacket about a month ago, and just found this thread.  Of course, I have had to put it down for Christmas presents, but I just picked it up again this week.  I am using a Paton's wool blend I got at Michael's.  Usually I try to stay away from anything with acrylic in it, but the color was so perfect I couldn't help myself.

So far I'm done with the back and the two front pieces, and will be starting on the sleeves as soon as I finish this damn blanket for my brother and his new wife.

I'll post pictures when I'm done.

Speaking of, why hasn't anyone who finished this posted pictures of it?

If you are in Ravelry, there are plenty of pics of finished jkt.

I am done with LF and now started RF.  I omitted textured stitch pattern on front pieces.  I am using Malabrigo and it's amazing(you heard that before:)).  I hope my mom looks smashing in this.  hehe.

haha well i'm up for a bit of a challenge Wink  i'm about to cast on and start it.  i actually have 6 skeins of brown sheep cotton fleece that i think will work for this.  wish me luck!  i might need it haha Smiley

Or probably a lot of knitters do this, write notes!!  I made  columns such as; moss stitch row, RLL row, textured stitch row, LLL row and moss stitch row.  As I finish rows, I cross them off.  If that make sense.Smiley

Did you guys use mattress stitch for seaming or just sewd edges together?

Okay I failed. Angry
I seamed, blocked it and it's too loose.  My sleeves are down to my knee and My seaming sucked. The jacket has the definite look of "I MADE THIS  LAST WEEKEND" .  Yuck.yuck, yuck.  But you know what?  I can't just pass up this "could have been a cutie" jkt.  I just have try again.  I used DB cashmeriono chunky.  Yarn is so soft  so I am going to frog it and make neck warmer or something.  I am going to order Malabrigo chunky in the More shocking color and try it again.  It's quick knit so I don't mind.  But it still sucks to have finished sweater that looks like washcloth.(worse than washcloth!)
Next one will be a winner!!!  I know it!!  ugh.

I finished bk piece and on to LF.  I am using Malabrigo Tuareg. color way.  I didn't do waist decrease since my mom is a little trapeze shape.Smiley(did the decreases at the bust though).  It's surprisingly fun knit!

Can anyone think of a reason why the body on this sweater could not be knit in one piece?

That's what I'm planning....

I don't see any reason why you can't.  I sometimes prefer knitting in pieces, cause handling 200+ stitches are not my favorite thing to do.Smiley
I just started yesterday in Malabrigo for my mom.
It's fun knit.
