I recently taught myself to knit (something other than a rectangle...I lost interest after 5-10 rows every time I tried before this), and I decided that I was going to jump right in, with both hands!
I started with Bev's "The Mitts" ( http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/the-mitts.html
) and decided that I just didn't like the way they looked. They turned out well, I am just not a fan of the numerous holes around the thumb. Anyways, here is the finished product:
I can't decide which I like better, when it is inside out, or right side out.... I used one strand of Briggs and Little Sport in Peacock and one strand of a cream colored baby yarn.
The other project I did, I am terribly excited about!!! It's the first time I tried dpns, and they turned out awesome!! I made Newfie Mitts! I used this pattern:http://creativewhimsy.wordpress.com/patterns/newfoundland-mitts/
The first pair I did with plain ol' acrylic because I didn't want to use the good stuff just frog it a hundred times....but it turns out I didn't have to! I used aran and chocolate coloured acrylic...not sure of the brand, but here they are:
My mom absolutely loved them, and her birthday being next weekend, I decided to make her a pair of special ones. I used the same aran colour, but I paired it with a blue fun fur held together with a strand of matching red heart soft touch. I only have one done as of now, but here it is in all it's glory!!
Sorry for being so word-y, but I am so excited that I actually made these! I wanted to learn how to knit just to make these when I was younger.
Comments and criticisms are always welcome!
Thanks again atroxsilentium, you were a huge help in the pattern reading process!
