2  Tagline advice in Get Product and Website Opinions by ranchelmarie on: September 29, 2011 04:08:43 PM
I'm working on my crafty business and trying to revamp the banner for my website/etsy store/blog. My current banner looks like this:

I'm thinking of keeping everything except the tagline, but would take suggestions if anyone doesn't like the background, cotton bole, lettering or anything.

The tagline I was thinking of going with is:
OrganicPatchwork.com (or leave off the .com?)
         Life's a Patchwork

Anyone like that?

3  sock yarn baby set in Knitting: Completed Projects by ranchelmarie on: February 06, 2011 08:40:35 AM
I'm expecting my first baby in 10 weeks and I've been trying to knit up some things for my little one. And I've fallen in love with sock yarn, not really sure why but I just love it. So I've made a few hats and then I decided to try some mittens so the little bugger won't scratch himself and then I had some yarn left so I tried some booties and came up with this cute little set all made from one skein of Patons Kroy FX in Cadet Colors.

the booties are the only thing made from a pattern and I altered the pattern quite a bit, but here's where I found it http://sockpixie.blogspot.com/2008/01/solution-to-sock-knitters-dilemma-magic.html

4  hat/hood for my nephew in Knitting: Completed Projects by ranchelmarie on: July 22, 2010 08:55:59 AM
I know it's summer, but I thought I'd get a jump start and make my little nephew an adorable winter hat. so here it is!

I like the shape of hoods better than hats, they're easier to knit and they keep the ears and neck warm, not just the head. So I made this in seed stitch for the head part and then stockinette stitch for the neck wrap part. It's made of Lion Brand Nature's Choice Organic Cotton Yarn in Walnut. It has three cute blue buttons, so that as he grows he'll hopefully still be able to use it just buttoning less of the buttons.

and here he is in all his cuteness modeling for it. (the photo taken right after this he's bawling and trying to take the hat off because it's too hot!)

It's a too big right now, but hopefully he'll grow into it...

5  shortbread cookies with lemon curd in Dessert by ranchelmarie on: July 22, 2010 06:29:11 AM
So I found this recipe for lemon curd the other day on Chickens in the Roadhttp://chickensintheroad.com/blog/2010/07/15/making-lemon-curd/
It turned out so yummy! see? isn't it beautiful?

But then I had to decide what to do with all that delicious lemon curd, I couldn't just eat all with a spoon, though I was sorely tempted, let me tell you! So I decided to make thumbprint cookies and put the curd in the print. So I found a shortbread recipe http://www.joyofbaking.com/shortbreads/shortbreadcookies.html and got to work.

So here you have it, my completely from scratch super yummy lemon curd shortbread cookies

they were so delicious, they're already gone.

6  Two cross stitched, Mario-inspired onesies in Needlework: Completed Projects by ranchelmarie on: July 08, 2010 06:30:39 AM
I've just finished two onesies for the cutest baby in the world (my nephew). I had previously embroidered him an Ewok onesie, since my brother is obsessed with Star Wars, so this time when I asked my sister-in-law what theme she wanted, she said old-school mario. so here you have it, Yoshi and a Super Mushroom.

7  Re: Need advice! in Get Product and Website Opinions by ranchelmarie on: May 08, 2009 08:39:40 PM
Thanks for all the advice, I'm working on putting it together and fixing them issues you've all pointed out. And thanks for pointing out how bold the colors were, apparently there is something wrong with the colors on my laptop screen and I never realized until you said something and I looked at my site on another computer screen and the colors were way different. On my laptop it looked soft and calm and on the other screen it was much brighter than what I was going for.
Anywho, I'm still working on the things mentioned, but I wanted to get an opinion on a new banner.

Do you like either of those, if so which one, or should I stick with the banner I've got (below).

Thanks! I'll update once the sites looking better, too.

8  Re: Fat Girl/Fat Boy Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by ranchelmarie on: July 14, 2007 06:42:43 PM
I also got  my package from Ms. Rosie today. Unfortunately I had to babysit all day and it's too dark now to take pictures. I'll post tomorrow, but suffice to say, it's a great package!
here's what I got, from the left... 2 skirts, a t-shirt with butterfly transfers that says "spread your wings and fly" and a bag (which is the same bag I made for Ms. Rosie in different fabric!) and little pouch and in the middle, a notebook with an "R" for rachel.

thanks again! This was a great first swap!

And this is way late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS. ROSIE!!
(and thank you to everyone who said happy birthday to me, I didn't even realize this gallery was up yet until today, shows how much I pay attention when I'm working on a project)

10  Re: Let's see your sewing machine!! in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by ranchelmarie on: June 29, 2007 08:32:05 PM
this is my machine. i don't like it. it doesn't have a name because it doesn't deserve one. I usually just call it "dammit" or POS.

please excuse the gigantic mess surrounding the beast.
it's a White Quilt 'N Sew 1730. It gets the job done, begrudgingly. It has a horrible attitude. For example, I tried using a different thread than I normally do, and I couldn't get it work for the life of me, the thread kept breaking, and it wasn't a cheap or bad thread, either.
I plan to buy a new machine as soon as I can afford one. I'm really hoping for a Bernina, but they're so expensive.
